I like the way they do their Pad Thai. Of the curry dishes, I like Gang Panaeng the best. But my favorite dish is SF7 (Pad Phrik King (String beans cooked in curry paste & coconut milk). I also like SF9 (Pad Pong Garli (Stir fried in Yellow curry paste, with vegetables)."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? TCG is nothing special. I liked it a lot at first but after having better Thai it's hard to go back. I took my friend from Utah to a place here and he said it took him half a year for TCG to taste good to him again.Originally posted by Hot Lunch View PostI know this isn't Lehi but have you ever tried Thai Chili Garden in Orem just off of 8th north and State St.? I love that place. I will have to try this place in Lehi. I love Thai food. I have driven by it a couple of times and have always wondered if it was good or not. I have tried Thai Village in A.F. and IMO it didn't compare to Thai Chili Garden in Orem.
I tried the Taco place that MP suggested the other night on Main St. in Lehi and really enjoyed it.

I've no idea if that restaurant restaurant offers it, but I don't see why they couldn't. They probably make the Tom Kha base each morning and then when you order it they can throw in some chicken or shrimp or whatever you want.Originally posted by Katy Lied View PostDo they have Tom Ga Gung?
Heck, I suppose one could ask for Tom Kha Nua (beef) or Tom Kha Moo (pork) if one wanted to.
Kha is just galangal, a cousin of ginger, and Tom is just a generic word for soup - it literally means to cook or boil. So a Tom Kha is basically a galangal soup although it typically has coconut milk in it.

Maybe it's improved. We went twice probably 2 years ago. We were the only diners there at dinner time. The service was slow and the dishes we got were covered in ketchup (we asked!). I'll give it another shot.Originally posted by Mrs. Funk View PostReally? I can't imagine we're talking about the same restaurant.
The Mussaman curry is delicious. I tried the panang today and it was also wonderful. Of the noodles dishes, I think we've only tried the pad woonsen with tofu and it's delicious and perfectly prepared every time. I also really prefer the mango sticky rice at Thai House to Thai Village.

I understand. If you do have more specific questions about their menu, though, you can download a PDF of it directly from their site.Originally posted by Katy Lied View PostForgive my dullard posts in this thread; I'm doing 3 things at once right now."You know, I was looking at your shirt and your scarf and I was thinking that if you had leaned over, I could have seen everything." ~Trial Ad Judge

I promise you I've never seen a speck of ketchup on a dish we've ordered there. Really, seriously, we're talking about the same place? Right off of Main Street in an old house?Originally posted by LiveCoug View PostMaybe it's improved. We went twice probably 2 years ago. We were the only diners there at dinner time. Having a good friend (whom many here have met) that is 3/4s Thai. His mom is full Thai and his dad is half. He was born in Thailand and his mom is straight FOB. He said that obviously nothing compares to how his mom does it (I have had her homemade cooking and it is awesome.) but Thai Chili Gardens is the best by far as long as you order the right thing. He said most of the Thai places (all of the ones mentioned in this thread we have talked about specifically) really americanize their food because they feel like americans can not truly handle Thai flavors and heat. He said there are a few dishes at TCG that are 100% authentic. I will try to find out what they are.*Banned*

Looks like I am the only one on here that likes Thai Chili Gardens. I have tried 3 or 4 different Thai places in Provo/Orem and I keep going back to TCG. I love the Spicy Pad Ped. I can't get enough of it.Originally posted by DapperDan View PostTCG is nothing special. I liked it a lot at first but after having better Thai it's hard to go back. I also really enjoy Thai Siam in Salt Lake on 14th S. and State St."Take it to the Bank"

We went to TCG a couple of times when they first opened, and thought it was poor, and we haven't been back since. So if we could get the names of the authentic dishes, that would really help. My favorite Thai place was in Cambridge, MA about 20 years ago. I had an awesome seafood combo soup. The spices and flavors were incredible.

The wife and I went to Bangkok Thai on main street in Park City last night. I haven't been there for a few years but I have never been disappointed. I think it is far better than anything you will find in Utah County (I am not as familiar with the Thai options in SLC). We had the sea bass and panaeng (sp?) curry and both were outstanding.
Given that it is the offseason, they are offering 2-for-1 on entrees. Also, they have a five course meal that is normally $55 that they are offering for $30. We would have done that, but we arrived too late (30 minutes from closing). Park City is great this time of year so it is worth the drive."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

I would generally agree, but I'm pretty sure I got sick from Thai Village the last time I ate there. Something about the green chili seemed a bit off, and I DEFINITELY was more than a bit off for the next 24 hours. I'd been there 5 or 6 times before that, and it was excellent, but I haven't been back since...Originally posted by LiveCoug View PostReally? I think Thai Village is a thousand times better. Been to the Thai house twice and it was chicken and ketchup. Didn't enjoy it at all. Maybe I'll give it another shot, what did you get?
