I eat at Subway 3-4 times a week, easy. I do not eat at any other fast food places. My Subway has a high traffic flow, so I'm not concerned about food hanging around for a long time. I can make a better sandwich on better bread, but for five bucks? And as few calories as my six-inch-roast-beef-and-swiss-on-wheat-hold-the-mayo-and-mustard-all-the-veggies-except-olives-double-vinegar standard sandwich has? Subway is nothing more than what it claims to be. A $5.00 sandwich which if you're hungry enough will fill you to the brim. It's not great - it doesn't suck, and it's a lot better than $5 spent at BK or McD's.
They have a Philly Cheese Steak for $9.50 that is every bit as good as any specialty sandwich for the same price. If you want better from Subway, you can get it by paying more. The problem is - the $5 options are too good at half the price of the good sandwiches so people get stuck in the $5 rut.Comment

During college I ate there a few times a week because they had the $2.50 6-inch daily specials, which was both cheaper and better than the muck being served by the campus food service. Me too. I could walk there from my condo on 21st S and Main. The foundation of any great sandwich is the bread, and this is particularly true for subs. Subway's bread is just okay, and that is the main thing holding it back.Comment

It's no Ellie's or NY Deli that's for sure, but Subway hasn't had much in the way of true competition. Quiznos goes more for hot sandwiches and places like Hogie Yogi and Blimpie are pretty sparse.Originally posted by UtahDan View Post
