I'm talking overall taste, quality, and selection of their sandwiches (not price, which I think is inexpensive, you get what you pay for). I voted "Poor". I'm surprised they've stayed in business as long as they have considering the money they seemingly put into advertising.

I voted "fair" but I would have voted average if it was an option. I went to subway today - BMT on Honey Oat. Very tasty. Maybe I should have put "above average"...
That's funny that you're surprised they're still in business. Subway is the world's top fast food franchise with over 28,000 stores world wide.

Last time I went to Subway, I noticed that the roast beef was green. When I pointed it out to the sandwich artist, he proceeded to take the green roast beef from the top of the pile and put it at the bottom of the pile of roast beef. I left.

Yeah, i put fair but would have put average if it had been an option. Also, i'm not sure you can remove price from the equation.

And I was 12 when I learned it wasn't the subway, but a sandwich place. We always drove past a Subway in Ogden on the way to my grandma's house. It was on the corner of a rather busy intersection in South Ogden, and seemed like a natural place for a subway station. I felt pretty dumb when I learned they peddled sandwiches. I felt dumber when considering how inefficient a subway system would be in any city the size of Ogden.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostI did not realize until about 3 years ago that Subway was supposed to be like the NYC subway system. 28,000 is obviously impressive, but number of stores doesn't tell us howOriginally posted by falafel View PostI voted "fair" but I would have voted average if it was an option. I went to subway today - BMT on Honey Oat. Very tasty. Maybe I should have put "above average"...

http://www.entrepreneur.com/franchis...cle194050.htmlthey're doingfinancially fit they are (I don't think it's a public company, but maybe a corp like Pepsi or something owns it). I'm surprised because #1 I don't think they have a good product and #2 I see all their advertising.Last edited by scottie; 05-12-2010, 02:44 PM.

Well you can't have 28,000 stores (and keep growing, as they are) if you're not doing well financially.Originally posted by scottie View Post28,000 is obviously impressive, but number of stores doesn't tell us howthey're doingfinancially fit they are (I don't think it's a public company, but maybe a corp like Pepsi or something owns it). There are literally 4 subways within 3 miles of my house. And I live on the "edge" of town!Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

I removed price because I want to know how good ya'll think their sandwiches are. I put them barely above those pre-prepared subs you can buy at Walmart.Originally posted by Donuthole View PostYeah, i put fair but would have put average if it had been an option. I think Subway is average. I don't mind eating there, but I wouldn't go out of way to eat there. There is a Jimmy Johns just a couple of blocks away from Subway and I will go to Jimmy Johns in a heartbeat over Subway...but it is also 10-20% more expensive.

Is the $5 foot long even that good of a deal?
I can get a jr. Bacon cheese burger at wendy's for much less and it fills me up plenty.
I haven't eaten at Subway enough recently to even comment if they taste good.
I went to one at Seaside, OR last summer, but can't remember the last time before that.

That's the way it is in Utah too. I'm not a business man, but is it smart to have four Subways within 3 miles of each other? I can't imagine each of those franchise owners are very happy about it.Originally posted by falafel View PostWell you can't have 28,000 stores (and keep growing, as they are) if you're not doing well financially.

You're satisfied by ONE JBC? I'm not sure if the $5 is a good deal, but its significantly more food than a JBC (which I also enjoy).Originally posted by beefytee View PostIs the $5 foot long even that good of a deal?
