  • I have a new favorite snack.

Those of you who know me in real life know I'm fat. I've really tried to change that the last few years to limited success. Mostly I get lazy and find that I just don't like most healthy food. Since we've moved to the Philippines I'm really trying hard to avoid the terrible foods and hit the semi-healthy low cal foods. Luckily, a lot of Asian cuisine is fairly healhy. However, I have battles with a sweet tooth from time to time. Well, I've found a solution.

I walk almost everywhere I go. It is hot and muggy here so by the time I get home from work I'm overheated. So I make myself a shake. I splash some pineapple juice, ice, fresh cut pineapple, papaya, and dragonfruit and throw it in the blender. It is so refreshing, packed with lots of natrual goodness, and filling. It also completely satisfies my sweet tooth. I'm sipping on a shake right now. 5 weeks in Manila, 25 pounds down. It has helped a lot.

Fruit smoothies - one of the best things about summer, when fruit is fresh, cheaper, and available. Now you just need Sugarhouse park to run up and down the hills

Good luck CJF, it sounds like you've made a good start. If it helps, I'm living proof that it can be done.

Walking/jogging up to Hwy 89 in Layton is a good subsitute

I may be small, but I'm slow.

A veteran - whether active duty, retired, or national guard or reserve is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to, "The United States of America ", for an amount of "up to and including my life - it's an honor."

I spent a lot of time running Sugarhouse Park in my day. Not sure I ever want to do that again.

Me too. The memories are not pleasant. But, I was probably in the best shape of my life from all that running.
