German potato salad is dressed with a vinegar/oil combo instead of mayo/salad dressing. It's a delicious, lighter variation on the potato-salad theme. I've made this recipe before, and really enjoyed it. If that one doesn't sound good, you'll find hundreds of recipes by simply googling "german potato salad".Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss
There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

Yeah, I'd eat that. Normal potato salad makes me puke - all the more so because everybody insists on using Russets, which (IMO - sorry Idaho!) are little better than elephant turds for human consumption, unless baking. New Pontiac Reds, fresh from the garden, boiled skin-on, drizzled with parsley butter - that was a traditional harvest-time feast when I was a kid.Originally posted by Donuthole View PostGerman potato salad is dressed with a vinegar/oil combo instead of mayo/salad dressing. please do. this thread will be most helpful if we post recipes. I'm interested, as well. Like you, I am not a huge slaw fan.Originally posted by dabrockster View PostIf you like I can get you the recipe my wife uses.. I can share it with everyone...Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Cabbage Ramen Noodle Salad
2 Tbsp toasted slivered almonds (if we have these we use them if not we don't)
½ head cabbage, thinly sliced
½ pkg. Top Ramen noodles, uncooked, crunched up (we usually do the entire package since we've used the seasoning and we also usually add the noodles early on since we prefer the noodles to soften some)
Dressing:
2 Tbsp. sugar
1/2 c. salad oil (vegetable oil) - Could substitute with other oils (Olive Oil or Sesame Oil etc..
3 Tbsp. vinegar
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. salt
seasoning pkg. from Top Ramen
Preparation:
1. Mix slivered almonds and cabbage. Add dressing (refrigerate a few minutes before).
2. Add dry Top Ramen at last minute (we don't do this but if you like crunch go for it), just before serving. May add cooked, chopped chicken or shrimp for variety.

One that I LOVE to make is an Avocado Salad..
2 avocados - peeled, pitted and diced
1 red onion, chopped
1 red and yellow bell pepper, chopped
1 large ripe tomato, chopped
1/4 cup chopped (Very Fine) fresh cilantro
1/2 lime, juiced
salt and pepper to taste
I also add some Olive Oil to the Lime Juice..
It is simple and easy but I love the taste of it...

I made this today for lunch. Instead of boiling the potatoes, I tossed them with a lil' bit of olive oil, chopped flat leaf parsley and the 1/4 c red onion and baked them at 350 for an hour. It turned out perfect and was a big hit amongst the after-church crew that regularly stops by for lunch. We had bbq chicken, potato salad and panko topped baked mac/cheese. We followed that with a fresh berry shortcake. Springtime is here!Originally posted by TripletDaddy View Post.
With that in mind, I made this recipe two nights ago and it was a hit. It is from Dinner: Impossible. Very easy to make and everyone really liked it....even the Puffy Check.

Yum. That sounds like a delish twist. Glad you enjoyed the recipe. The coating is a pretty simple recipe, but it tastes very good. Out of curiosity, did you adapt any other parts...adding pickles, olives, etc? Or did you keep it as posted?Originally posted by YOhio View PostI made this today for lunch.
