Then don't participate. There's no need to to be pejorative simply because people have different tastes in food than you, and your post was no small bit mean.

And yes. We pay all that money just to shit it out the next day.

I get this response from some people since I don't mind spending a lot of money on food. They tell me that for the same amount of money I could buy something that has lasting value, like clothes or shoes or whatever. The people who have said those types of things to me are the same people who have spent hundreds of dollars to play a round of golf, or see a Celine Dion concert, or attend a sporting event -- none of these things have lasting value either, and you don't even get the pleasure of shitting them out!

I guess it all just depends on how we look at things and what we value. At various times in my life I have thought differently in terms of how I prioritize what I'm willing to spend my money on. Right now food is at the top of the list. It's one of those things where you say "to each his own," I suppose.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

What do you have to show for the next day after a pay per view MMA event?

But have you smelled the Funk's shit after they've eaten at Forage or Grace's poo after he's eaten at Crush?

I don't think so or you wouldn't feel this way.

Still leaves the question, why even bother to comment in this thread. Perhaps, I should go shit out my Forage food in one of the MMA threads. I have no interest in MMA and find it painfully boring, but what the hell why not just go and randomly state my disinterest in the thread.

Since all that matters is what you have to show for it afterwards, why did you bother going to the BYU-Oklahoma game? Why not just watch it on TV, DVR it, and you get to see the game so much cheaper.

In fact, we raved about it so much that the kitchen sent us out another small serving on the house. The steelhead was also excellent and had beautiful crispy skin, but didn't stand a chance next to the bauvette.
So I guess that's a pretty strong argument for the effectiveness of sous vide cooking method, right? I think the place we all got talking about Forage in the first place was in that thread about sous vide cooking.

We ordered the cheese plate this time 'round, and for an additional $9 it did not disappoint. It featured two generous portions of two types of cheese, an Italian blue and a French sheepsmilk, along with house-preserved cherries.
Cheese plate = totally worth it.

I think the steak wouldn't have been as tender or juicy if it hadn't been cooked sous vide. I do love that the chefs take it out of the immersion cooker and sear a beautiful crust onto it. The second piece we received the kitchen comped was just a shade above rare and is probably the only piece of meat I've eaten that red and enjoyed.

And yeah, the cheese plate rocked. The first time we went, I misunderstood and thought it would be $9 per person instead of $9 total. I think few meals aren't improved by the presence of cheese, and it gave us a few extra minutes to linger around before dessert.

Actually, we were pretty surprised that the 3-course dinner ended up taking longer than the tasting menu we did in February. They definitely gave us more time to linger around between courses this time, likely because our reservation was for 8:15 and we were in the last round of diners.

I anticipate that I will never regret choosing to eat at Forage. I know this might not be true for other people, but it's a wonderful, sumptuous experience.

LOL. I came late to this. I like to eat and French food is great, even beyond great when done well. But CJ being CJ is even better.

Whoa, this thread took an interesting turn since I saw it last.

The wife and I went to Forage last week.

It was good -- definitely one to put in the rotation every 3-6 months or so.

                          We had this to drink:

Turned out on closer analysis that it was not fully WoW compliant (tea). Oh well.

The food was interesting and good -- the egg served in the eggshell and radish served like a little plant were cool. The only think I didn't like was the cantaloupe sherbet dessert I had. I should have chosen the white chocolate mousse instead. The service was great (knowledgeable but not arrogant or stuffy). It was also cool to see how they had remodeled the home into a restaurant.

I admit (point for the Forage-haters) that I was a little bit hungry when we left, but I hadn't eaten much of anything all day and we only had the smaller meal.

Forage's scallop sashimi with meyer lemon confit made F&W's ten favorite dishes of the year. Seems possible SLC might land its first ever F&W Best Chefs given the attention Forage has received, I just don't know who they'd give it to since the restaurant is helmed by two chefs.

That is very impressive for an SLC restaurant and really well deserved. I loved Beast, but I cannot say that I had anything there that was better than Forage. They were about equal, but if anything Forage was a little better.

                                Good news for SLC foodies.

And for the record, I'd just like to point out that I was mocked way back when I raved about the food I had at Spark, by then-chefs Viet Pham and Bowman Brown. Currently running Forage.

To those that mocked, I say suck it. With meyer lemon sauce.
