I am sitting here enjoying some brie with crackers and fresh fruit. I was wondering what cheeses the board likes? It is unfortunate that our cheese choices are so limited in the United States. It is hard to find good, reasonably priced cheeses sometimes. What are some of the places you can find a decent cheese?

Best cheese shop I have found is DiBruno brothers, in Philadelphia (www.dibruno.com). The have a shop downtown and one in the italian market. I think they will ship all over."You interns are like swallows. You shit all over my patients for six weeks and then fly off."

Occasionally you can find something good at Costco or Sam's at a fraction of the price you can find it elsewhere. Case in point, we got some mozzarella di bufala, like two pounds for $8 a couple of years back at Costco. It was not as good as the non-exported stuff, but you know it is a long way to travel.Originally posted by John McClain View PostI am sitting here enjoying some brie with crackers and fresh fruit. I miss Rouy, an orange-rinded cheese I would buy in France for dirt cheap. The rind smells vaguely ammonia-like, but the cheese is fantastic.
Here in Utah, there are some surprisingly satisfying local cheeses from Beehive Cheese (their cabot cheddar melts beautifully and goes equally well on a cheese platter). Costco even has a decently priced, if somewhat limited, cheese selection—some good gruyère, cheddars, even decent Brie sometimes. I love Rembrandt gouda, aged for a year and carrying a simply perfect, nutty, fruity flavor. I love it with honeycrisp apples and hunks of baguette.

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

I got a triple creme brie from Costco during the holidays. I haven't seen it in the cooler since, so I haven't been able to get more.Originally posted by Surfah View PostWegmans has awesome cheeses. They're only in NY, NJ, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia though.
They have a triple creme brie that is awesome. It's like butter.
It was very good. Like you say, it was like butter.

Harmon's in Utah has a solid cheese selection. In Portland it was Fred Meyer (surprising but they really had a nice selection) and Zupan's.Originally posted by John McClain View PostI am sitting here enjoying some brie with crackers and fresh fruit.
