I have eaten lunch there a few times, always for lunch. Banh mi is ok, curry is good. They also sell lettuce cups like PF Changs.

Wouldn't make it a dinner destination but worth checking out. Frankly, I've had better banh mi in SLC at a Vietnamese grocery store.

I guess I'll add my .02 in this thread since I did live in SLC for a spell.

I will confirm that the Soup Kitchen in Sugarhouse is majestic, and I also love Salt Lake Pizza and Pasta- real good food for not expensive at all. I also liked Sugarhouse BBQ company a whole lot, and I'll round this recommendation out w/ Granite Bakery- awesome! Their addictive Cinnamon Knots made it very difficult to stay in shape.

If you like banh mi, you need to try Oh Mai. There is one on 3425 S State St that has been packed the two times I have stopped in. They just opened a new location closer to home at 6093 S Highland Drive in Holladay (right after you stay to the left off 2000 E to get onto Highland before turning down into Van Winkle). I ate a ton of banh mi on my mission and this is as good as any I've had. I need to try their pho, but I can't keep myself from those sandwiches. Very highly recommended.

We love Bambara downtown in the Hotel Monaco. We love Brio and Lugano for Italian in SLC. Franck's over in Knutson's Corner area is a real nice place as well, great food.

I like the Dodo, good sandwiches, interesting desserts.

My AP American History teacher in high school owned Nielsen's Frozen Custard, and I've always liked that place.

Like the Pie, but there's a little place over in Draper that does Chicago Style Pizza that's called Sweet Home Chicago, and it's quite good.

Pat's BBQ on Friday's with Burnt Ends is amazing.

I made my first pilgrimage to Pat's 3-4 months ago. I liked the atmosphere and they had a live band playing that was very good. I was psyched. Then the food arrived. Ugh... Huge disappointment.

Undercooked ribs, dry brisket, thin flavorless sauce. But the sides were OK.

Maybe I caught them on a bad night.

All I've eaten there is burnt ends on Friday. There's a rep that brings them in to work sometimes and I love them. I can't speak for the rest of their menu.

I agree with TD about Pat's. Not just a bad night, though I've never had the burnt ends. For BBQ, Sugarhouse bbq beats Pat's handily but wasn't great. Good enough to return.

Having lived in Austin and having smoked at home for several years now, I am a hopeless BBQ snob. That being said, there was a Memphis-style place in Park City a few years back that was outstanding. Sadly, it only lasted a year or so.

I wasn't impressed with the brisket, but I am rarely impressed with brisket at restaurants. I didn't have the ribs, but did like the pulled pork. I cannot remember much about the bbq sauce.
