Proper Brewing Company opens its doors on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.

They have great pedigree and I'm excited to try their brews. I'll be making a trip downtown to pick up a few. I also think there packing is sharp and they have some clever plays on the local culture in them. Recommend Rye and Lake Effect. Wasatch has tried this and I think has ultimately failed in their efforts to be clever.

Since we've been on a bit of a new brewery kick lately, I thought you guys would like to see what's coming from some of these new brew hou...

I'm excited to try these and excited with the growing craft beer scene in Utah. Even Utah County has 2 breweries set to open up this year (we will see if it actually happens). I think there are 4-5 set to open this year or next year in Salt Lake or Davis county.

I do think the market will become over saturated and some of these will fail, but it is an exciting time for sure for beer lovers in Utah. Distribution into the state sucks, so people are fixing that problem by making great beer here.

It's awesome. The lady said they fly their fish in fresh every day, not open on Monday or Sunday.

They let you sample all the types they have that day. If you like that kind of stuff, you should hit it up.

I tried the pull pork there. Not sure I understood how the fish option works, is it raw?

Pork is good, but sometimes can be dry.

You can just ask them to sample the fish. It's raw, there are a few cooked items. I'd recommend the kimchi mussels and any of the salmon or tuna types. The shellfish ones are cooked. They have octopus that's cooked as well.

You should be happy with this. It will hopefully help revitalize another area of downtown SLC and it didn't even cost billions of dollars!

                For the bagel snobs.

Robb Abrams went from East Coast technology executive to Salt Lake City's resident artisanal Jewish bagel maker.

So add Proper Brewing to the list. I got a bomber of Lake Effect and it is just fantastic. Brewed with local salt it is sour and salty, just what a sour should be. Very refreshing and will make a great summer beer. The packaging looks great and has good info on it as well. My favorite packaging of the local breweries.

There is a bar and burger place there as well. Didn't have time to try either, but with how well regarded Avenues Proper is I would expect it to be good. With Epic a stones throw away, it makes a great beer destination.

You'd better start eating when you visit these local pubs or someone might petition to move all your brewery posts to the hockey thread.
