My opinion of the Kemper sodas (in general) is that they are just good solid above-average beverages. Kemper sodas are not something that I keep on-hand for my own consumption, but I stock a small reserve for guests so that I'm not forced to share with them the really good stuff. The Kempers keep everyone happy... the guests feel like they are getting a good quality soda, and I don't have to waste my top-shelf selections on the unwashed. It's a win-win. Thanks Thomas Kemper!

The Thomas Kemper Ginger Ale is a typical Kemper soda; it is extremely sweet (probably due to the fact Kemper uses high fructose corn syrup instead of cane sugar) and it is way too carbonated. The underlying ginger flavor is good, however the honey taste just doesn't provide a good compliment like the lime and citrus flavors of other labels.... maybe there is simply too much honey (*shrug*). Probably the most annoying thing about the Kemper Ginger Ale is the unbelievable amount of carbonation in the soda; so much that it is almost undrinkable immediately after pouring the liquid into a chilled glass. It is best to let the Kemper Ginger Ale sit for a few minutes before consumption to avoid severe tongue and throat carbonation burn. It still is a decent choice, but it definitely is far from extraordinary - good but not great. Go to local Cost Plus World Market and buy a 4-pack of Bundaberg Ginger Beer - it is far superior to the Kemper Ginger Ale.

Granted, I do the best I can with what I have available and Thomas Kemper is about as much of a luxury soda you'll find in the Philippines but I think you and I are drinking different Thomas Kemper products. The stuff I buy is sugar cane soda. Not a drop of hfcs. And one of the reasons I like the ginger ale is because it is mellow and overly carbonated.

(Also, look for the Buderim brand... another import from Australia which is quite excellent.)

That's funny, the Kemper root beer is actually cane sugar and I actually prefer the sweetness of Weinhard's over it.

I buy TK soda in bulk (Costco)... I still have some TK root beer and ginger ale on the shelf that are sweetened with HFCS.

If you like Weinhard's, then you'll love Bulldog. Give it a try.

Cost Plus World Market carries Bulldog fairly regularly. Are you in Utah? There is a Cost Plus in Cottonwood Heights and one just off the freeway @ Kimball Junction on your way to Park City (from SLC). Call first. I've seen Hank's Root Beer at Cost Plus too... Hank's is more of a darker brew, quite good though. Cost Plus also carries Boylan's from time to time... check out the Boylan's root beer, birch beer, red birch beer, and the natural cane cola (with a hint of cinnamon) if they have that too. (Boylan's natural cane cola is one of my favorite cola drinks... yummy, yummy stuff.)

Excellent, I'll definitely check that out. I too am a fan of Boylan's birch beer and cola. I was introduced to them at the great Pop the Soda Shop in Phoenix.

I've also seen a root beer at Fresh Market stores here in Utah (formerly Albertson's) that comes in a small keg. I can't remember the brand though. Do you know anything about that one?
