I hear people raving about this show, but I've watched 30-second clips from a bunch of the episodes on my Apple TV, and I just don't get it. It feels like something that should be on CBS, not Showtime. (And yes, that's an insult.)

What's great about it? Is it worth it for me to invest my time into it? I don't know how anything could even come close to touching Mad Men right now as far as "TV brilliance" is concerned, but enough recommendations could lead me to getting season 1 of Dexter and checking it out.

No. It's a morbid show. You wouldn't like it. I watched the first few episodes and felt dirty afterward. The most notable Dexter fan on this board is UteStar. Speaks volumes.

I loved Dexter. I watched the first 2 seasons on Bravo during the writers strike. It was an edited version with all the <redacted> redacted. After the writers strike, they stopped editing the shows, so I never saw past Season 2.

Someday I will either go inactive for a few weeks and watch all these shows or they will edit the rest of Dexter for me. Another possibility is that I won't care about the show.

I'm halfway through season 3 and just obsessed. When I was watching season 1, I watched 11 episodes in one day.

I would suggest reading the books first. The first season of Dexter was ok, but it quickly fell victim to Hollywood.

I'm not sure what you mean by "belongs on CBS."

I don't have TV, so I'm not sure what shows are on CBS. Isn't Friday Night Lights CBS? I'm of the opinion that FNL is as good as just about anything out there.

I would agree that is has become progressively less thrilling. In terms of quality I would say it's pretty much proceeded in order. Season 1 was the best, then 2, then 3. But it's still pretty great.

I LOVE Dexter.. By far the best show I have seen in a while. Season one is unbelieveable.. The finale will have you laughing and crying all in the same 15 seconds...

First off, Shut up to YOhio.

Second, I can honestly say that I have never heard someone say Dexter should be on network television. It is a high entertaining and very disturbing show. It is an interesting look into serial killers, what made them...and a disturbed kid who grew into one and if he can ever grow emotion and how he channels his 'addiction.'

It is one of the top 2-3 shows on television. It is seriously genius. We watched from the first season and have been hooked ever since. This last season had its hits and misses, but finished very strong. The upcoming season begins in a few weeks.
