  • Patch 1.20 went in last night. It's too early to tell if it is indeed a real thing, but I noticed a marked improvement in my lag last night. My KDR for the night was 2.3, compared to 1.4 for the month of August. I'll need a few more weeks to tell for sure, but hopefully they defucked what they fucked up in an update a few months ago when my KDR and W/L suddenly started nose diving due to major lag problems thanks to their idiotic idea of "lag compensation", ie. punish those with good internet connections.

    • Did the new update come with an aimbot? That is a big jump just from an update. I guess XBOX Live is more stable and constant

Oh man, I didn't see that coming. Good one.

I didn't play yesterday, but I should be on tonight. It'll be interesting to see how it changes for me. How long did the update take to download and install?

It took 2-3 minutes. It was pretty short. According to the official notes it was just a patch to fix an issue with Terminal not registering on some machines. As with all release notes though, there was very likely additional stuff in the update that just didn't make it to the release notes. We'll see how the month of September plays out, it'll take a few days at least to see if it's a real change, or I just happened to be on fire last night. Though maybe the update did indeed come with an aimbot for just my account.

I wish they would fix the bug that allows ballistic vest backpacks thrown against walls to go inside the walls and make them irretrievable.

                  • Well, patch 1.20 wasn't the fix to my lag issues. However, switching from a wired connection to wifi did. Before switching to wifi, 1.3 KDR in August-Sept, the last week with wifi, 1.78.

You have to admire the engineering required to penalize players with low latency wired connections in favor of high latency, high throughput wifi connections.

                    • I've been logging my kill/death stats every morning since the beginning of August. In the 1.5 months before I switched to wifi I had a 1.35 KDR, in the two weeks since I've switched to wifi I have 1.61 KDR.

So maybe there really is something to all the complaints out there about lag compensation penalizing players for a decent internet connections. Maybe I'll switch back to wired for a week to see what happens. Maybe using the game with wifi enables an aimbot...

                        • I got a 30-0 MOAB on interchange in FFA tonight. I'll post a video later. Cool kids, like wuap, can see the whole 4 min clip in my online vault. The rest of you will have to settle for the 30 second clip.
