Unlike the 360 and its 54% failure rate associated with the RROD, there's not an abundance of material on the net concerning this mysterious thing you've the Yellow Light of Death. I'm afraid you're on your own on this one, probably not even Sony knows what to do on this one.

EDIT: I just saw the follow-up. It looks like you can fix it on your own. Luckily Sony doesn't employ planned obsolescence as a corporate policy.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Apparently they do. Just look at their online gaming support model.

Good question. I too was a little surprised this morning when I opened up the thread and saw how few posts had been added since last week. I didn't get to play all weekend except for last night, and I expected to see more of my Xbox Live friends online.

I downloaded the new maps on Thursday when I played with a few Cuffers. The only one I played that night was Storm. It felt a lot like when I first started playing the game--I just sort of wandered around. When I died, I would unsuccessfully try to find my way back to where I had been killed to get my revenge.

Unlike when I first started playing the game, however, I ended up positive (15-10) so I felt okay. It was funny to see that almost nobody knew the map well. I saw people on both teams walking around in very vulnerable areas. I'm sure in a few weeks stuff like that won't be commonplace.

        • I was OOT the whole weekend, so it sucked to miss out on the double XP's. I may get on after the game tonight.

          • Did anyone else feel a little strange watching the video of the Apache gunner shooting down the reporters in a crowd of civis? Strange because we have made a game of using that very weapon, from that same sort of view? I was shocked by how similar the whole thing looked to the game, and it made me a little sick to my stomach... not enough to stall my quest to being the best player on CUF, but still, it was weird.

I had that same feeling (and discussion with a gamer friend). I saw another video like this a few years ago while I was playing COD4. I had the same sickening feeling then too. But I think I played the game that night anyway.

Ah, the old "you can't play with the PS3 online" card. The problem is no one has managed to explain why XBL makes the 360 the better purchase given the fact that it's more expensive and now has a shittier exclusive library. Isn't the whole point of playing online finding other people to play with and then playing the game, does the PS3 not allow someone to do this? It's kind of like beating someone over the head because they're using a search engine with Google's searching ability but without one of the Google add-ons like Google Maps. Sure the full Google interface is nicer than one without Google Maps, but the added utility is marginal. The main reason you go to Google is for the search engine.

Sure, a PS3 owner still can't get some DLC for some games. But a 360 owner can't play any of the PS3's far better exclusives.

Sony needs to pull its head out and finally enable texting during games. It clearly doesn't understand that guys in their 20s and 30s demand to act like 14 year old girls during a hot and heavy session of MW2.

                  .

I bought the 360 because they have better game titles out that I enjoy. I hate all those japanese hentai games that sony puts out, which is probably the reason why you bought the ps3 and love those games in their library. Who the hell cares about using a console for google?
I didn't buy my xbox for the purpose of surfng the internet. I got a phone and a laptop that can do that for me so my system lacking a search engine and web capabilities like that are fine by me and I would say most people that have the console agree.

Your hostility towards the Xbox has placed you in an awkward and uncomfortable position. You have entrenched yourself in support of the inferior gaming console, and I do not expect you to concede. This is an exercise in amusement.

I would submit to you that your credibility would be strengthened were you to own both consoles and experience their service offerings side by side. Any comparitive judgements you pass would be better informed if this were the case.

On a more serious note, the cross-game party chat and overall party functionality on Xbox Live is one of the biggest draws for me. My brother lives in Guang Zhou. If he's playing Final Fantasy XIII and I'm playing Forza 3, I can send him a party invite and we can catch up and shoot the breeze while enjoying our separate games. It is the same with many of my old friends from high school as we are scattered across the country. Hell, if I'm chatting with my brother and a friend comes online, we can send him a quick party invite and he becomes a part of the conversation. No need for us to all be in the same instance of the same game. Great feature that I really get alot of mileage out of.

This text chatting thing has gotten out of control. No matter how many times it is debunked, CMBF keeps on banging that drum.

                          • Are all the PS3ers under the illusion that Xbox doesn't do voice chat or something? What is the origin of that?

I actually thought that more Xboxers have headsets than PS3ers.

The headset arrangement on the PS3 was a disappointing surprise for me. I naturally assumed that the PS3 would follow the Xbox's model of a headset that plugs into the controller. Very user friendly.

Come to find out after purchasing my PS3 that I am either required to be tethered to the actual gaming console with a USB headset, or I have to use my old Motorola blue tooth ear piece that dangles loosely off my ear. Terrible on both sides.

or any number of other blue tooth headset that would work better for you. I much prefer the ps3 headset model to the 360's.
