Bands that grew on you

When I first heard the Talking Heads, Cranberries, and Travis I didn't like them. Years later, I like all of them.

Conversely, I instantly liked Winger. Now Winger makes me wretch.

I was a victim of fast food music. My only excuse is "it was the 80s." This is a pretty decent excuse, really.

These days I tend to not like something right away. I let it slowly settle in--or not.

yeah I liked crap in the 80's, eschewing great bands like the Cure in favor of whoever the hell produced unskinny bop bop and crap like that.

I didnt like the Gorillaz at first cause they weren't a "real" band. Now I like them a lot.

I think a lot of people (especially in this demographic) have closed minds to anything Hip Hop in general... but in reality, some of the truest American art happens in Hip Hop.

Public Enemy, although Flava-Flav still annoys me.

I remember reading a feature of Flava Flav in the Source circa 93 where I found out he can play any instrument by ear. He was at the piano playing mozart or something and when the journalist took note he started pounding the piano like a little kid... he later parlayed that genius into a month long orgy of wannabe t.v. stars vying for his approval at any physical cost... when i think of how he pulled that off his genius is confirmed for me.

Linkin Park fits into the mold of a group that I have tired of. I really liked them with "Crawling" but the longer they are out, the softer their sound gets, Lame!!

I was thinking about the original question... every band I like grew on me to some degree... I don't think I just immediately fell in love with any particular band at once.

Muse kept showing up on my Pandora stations. They are one of my favorite bands now.
