      I like Sonic Youth, but haven't paid much attention to Thurston's tone. Now that you mention it, I will.

          I'm not sure why I didn't mention this before since it's pretty much one of my favorite songs ever, but Joey Santiago's tone on Hey is phenomenal.

          Just a little thought as I listen to Doolittle...

            Good call... Joseph Alberto Santiago is always on point. His tone was so clean but strong... like a Beach Boys guitar capable of murder. I especially am fond of his work on the various incarnations of Vamos.

                They're playing 2 dates at the Paramount this fall on the Doolittle tour... I'm very jealous of you.

                    you better hit both shows-- it's looking more and more I'm going to have to road trip to frickin CO to see them.

                      It may be cheating because of his unique guitar but my favorite is Charlie Hunter. Easily the most immediately recognizable guitar in jazz right now.
