On 9/15 Tolstoy Together starts again with A Public Space, and I'll read War and Peace again. Pick up Yiyun Li's book coming out next month from A Public Space about Tolstoy Together I. Many of my tweets are in it, along with tweets from Joyce Carol Oates, Alexandra Schwartz, and many other famous writers.

Still on my Cold War kick, I'm reading DeLillo's Libra, about to finish it up. Loving it. Still on my Menand kick, I read The Metaphysical Club, 20 years too late, but the book is as relevant as ever, probably more so. Loved it.
Steelblue really like Delillo. I have read 2 or 3 but did not enjoy them.

I am waiting to read these till book 5 is on its way. Don't like being hung out to dry (I'm looking at you GRRM). 75% of my reading is escape. I really liked the most recent Stephen King book, well until the end. Man that guy sure has a hard time writing an ending.

I am going to finish Tom Wolfe's A Man in Full today. It is good, but not as great as I had expected.

Most fun book I read recently was S.A Crosby - Razorblade Tears. Had a Justified vibe to it. Fun and violent.

I had no idea until this moment that Sanderson is Mormon. I'm going to have to go think about what that means.

Had to go double check but Patrick Rothfuss is not Mormon. I think I'm going to be okay.

Huge Sanderson homer here. Right now I'm in the middle of the Way of Kings monstrosity.

              • Sanderson is great. I am a big fan of the entire Cosmere. Most of his novels are a part of this universe and share the same creation myth. If you want to really nerd out there is plenty of content to nerd out to.

I was very apprehensive about starting the mistborn trilogy because I’d heard that it was just a part of his cosmere. I didn’t want to invest the time. Now here I am a few years later, having read most of his stuff, and I want to go back and read it again to see how it all fits together

                  • Just finished the Matthew McConaughey best seller, Green Lights. Not terribly deep, but a fun read. He narrates the audio version, so that is definitely the one to buy. I would listen to him read the phonebook.

Me too. I'm almost done with book 3. Read (ok, listened) to them all in a row. Book 1 and 2 were fantastic. Book 3 is great, but I'm getting a bit burned out. I will wait a bit before tackling book 4

That’s not a bad idea. I’m a third of the way through Rhythm of War, and they’re starting their second trip into Shadesmar. (Oops, spoiler!) And a whole host of new characters and spren keep me referencing an online wiki each time I read.

still love it, but it is a time commitment that pushes out other books I’d like to start.

                        • Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup - by John Carreyrou. Carreyrou is the WSJ reporter that blew the top off the Theranos scandal. He eventually quit the WSJ and now focuses on writing books full-time but he probably knows more about Theranos than anyone that didn't work there, and probably more than a lot who did given how toxic and psycho Theranos' culture was.

It's a fast-paced read and sometimes it's hard to keep up with the revolving door of people that weave in and out of the many stories in quick succession but that's partly because Theranos was a revolving door and anyone who didn't kiss the ring of Elizabenth Holmes and Sunny Balwahni were out on their ear.

I've worked at 3 startups in my career and currently work for a Silicon Valley company although I live in Utah. The book resonates with me as it describes many things I hate about business/corporate culture in general and Silicon Valley startup culture in specific. I'm only 50% through the book but I recommend it based on what I've read so far.

It's a great book. You should now watch the documentary on HBO if you haven't seen it yet.
