Hwo about this; I was constantly arguning with my old man becasue I wanterd to grow my hair like the beatles but he insisted no son of his was going to loojk like a damn little girl and so I was forced to wear a crew cut. By time I got to be about 14 (and my parents were divroced) my hair was shoulder length and now, decades later, I am back to about crew cut length. CIrcle of life my firneds.

I am immersed in trying to finish my Tour daily write up right now, but I will sometime share these thoughts (you should be careful what you ask for). For example, I will always and I mean always remember the Paul is Dead angst I felt sitting around the kitchen table listening to SKinny Johnny Mitchell on 1320 KCPX am radio in SLC tell us all about the various clues on Beatles album covers that proved, PROVED I TELL YOU, that Paul was dead. It was transcedent; nothing else mattered. ANd the first Led Zeppelin Album? WOw. SItting in my room listneing over and over. ANyway, those are stories for another day.

I was the youngest of six kids so I got to listen to my older siblings talk about all of this stuff. I was mesmerized. I remember watching them try to play the record backwards to hear "Paul is dead" and argue about why Paul was not wearing shoes in the Abby Road photo.

I was the youngest of six kids so I got to listen to my older siblings talk about all of this stuff. I was mesmerized. I remember watching them try to play the record backwards to hear "Paul is dead" and argue about why Paul was not wearing shoes in the Abby Road photo.

After I got my first job as a DJ the first thing I did when I was alone in the studio was put on Skynyrd's Freebird and then take out the beatles' albums and play them backwards on the station turntables, which were bulit to do that, and listen for those secret messages. I never really found them. Likewise, I never found the devilish messages in Zeppelin's music. It was all a freakin hoax.

Of the Led Zepelin albums I remember IV the most. We had a pool table in our basement and we would listen to it over and over again while we played (8-track of course). I had every lyric memorized.

Two other big music events that I remember:

Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd. That just blew me away (and everyone else) when it came out. I used to put it on the stereo in my bedroom at night, turn out the lights, and just enjoy it (save the jokes - it was sans weed).

Frampton Comes Alive. It seemed like everyone on the planet went out and bought a copy. I think it still holds some kind of sales record.

We did the same thing as kids. Apparently that never gets old. I still love the "I buried Paul" bit at the end of Strawberry Fields and listen for it every time.

Hold your fire man. I know you want to zing Falafel for basically destroying you and embarrassing you in front of all your friends, but that just wasn't the right time.

"Rock and Roll All Nite" by KISS. My dad listens to pussy music (no, that the kind that results in it...) and thus anything by Striesand and Chicago recorded by 1973 qualifies.

When it comes to music, Doctorcoug is half pussy, half totally awesome (h/t Superdell) like his older brother.

I love Metallica, Rush and have a guilty pleasure for Iron Maiden, which admittedly is horrible.

It involved me in a backwards-facing, acid-washed, denim cap (with an elastic band that made it possible for many sized heads to wear, though not all) and matching jeans (with corresponding elastic waist band) and an electric yellow t-shirt. It was but a solo that commenced with me on my knees (very interpretive) and then some subsequent tumbling-type moves. Had I been slightly more creative I would have mixed in a little of Madonna's "Prayer" track and the party would have really started.
