So Chris won American Idol last night. Does anyone on here care? From the very beginning I thought Adam would win and I was surprised it was Chris. He had some rough going in the beginning but seemed to pick up fans along the way. I couldn't stand him singing out of the side of his mouth but I guess that's just me. Preteen girls didn't seem to care.

Kris will probably sell more than Adam. Adam's style and schtick seem about 15 or so years too late."They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.
Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

This is true, although if anything, America has proven that it loves to recycle its musical stylings in slightly updated form.Originally posted by DrumNFeather View PostAdam's style and schtick seem about 15 or so years too late.
Adam actually would match well with bands like My Chemical Romance, The Used, Fall Out Boy, etc. He has a good emo/scremo vibe about him that a certain segment really digs.
On the other side, there's easy-going Kris that looks like he's going to go in the John Mayer, Jason Mraz direction. There also is a large segment that really likes this.
In the end, I'm not really sure who'll come out on top sales-wise. These things can be so fickle. Kris could be another Kelly Clarkson or he could be a Taylor Hicks (although I think this spot is reserved for Danny Gokey). It will be interesting to see how their records do when they come out.

Hopefully the Freedom Festival is, as we speak, letting the ink dry on a contract it has signed with either Kris or Danny. We wouldn't want to pass them up for our illustrious 4th of July fest!

Adam should be glad that he doesn't have to have that shitty "No Boundaries" song as his first single now. He has the superior talent and "it" factor but Danny Gokey's fans all jumped on the Kris bandwagon. I won't be buying any record released by any Idol contestant this season. Not that I have bought any other season's either. But if Corkrey were to release a video...."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

Kris is bound into the RCA contract and will have to sing the cookie cutter songs that they hand him, and he will probably have very little freedom for his first record or two, like most new acts. Adam however is free to find his own label, tell them upfront that he wants to scream the classics take it or leave it, and go the Chris Daughtry route. Daughtry's second album recently went quintuple platinum, selling more than the other nine finalists from his year combined.
The south always votes for their own in huge numbers, but after the finales, they abandon them and don't buy their records. There's a huge difference between sitting on the couch and mashin' buttons on the phone, and actually shelling out $15 at Wal-Mart. All of the artists who had a large southern following in the show quickly faded afterwards (Taylor Hicks, Bo Bice, Diana DiGuardi, Ruben Studdard).

I think that Adam is the superior vocal talent, but I will tell you that it is Kris' vocal style appeals to me and I could see myself buying something of his. I have enjoyed the creativity of the arrangements he has done as much as anything and he has a pleasing tone. Adam is a poor man's Freddy Mercury which is fine in the right setting, but not as appealing to me.Originally posted by Surfah View PostAdam should be glad that he doesn't have to have that shitty "No Boundaries" song as his first single now. The good news for Adam is that Queen has been looking for a new frontman for about 30 years. Perhaps they found one.Originally posted by UtahDan View PostI think that Adam is the superior vocal talent, but I will tell you that it is Kris' vocal style appeals to me and I could see myself buying something of his. Mike O'Meara had Ace from a few seasons back on his radio show yesterday, and apparently there are legs to what you just said. Supposedly Bad Company has contacted him as well.Originally posted by DrumNFeather View PostThe good news for Adam is that Queen has been looking for a new frontman for about 30 years. I'll be honest Kris bugged the hell out of me. He sings like Drew Barrymore talks. I thought his rendition of What's Going On was horrible. I don't appreciate his style. It seemed like his arrangements were all composed by Jack Johnson. He just has little power as a singer."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

If I were Adam I'd be flattered about all the invites but I would stay about as far away from any of those bands as I could. I couldn't see going straight from the top of the AI world to being the front man of what is almost a cover band. Maybe as a plan X or something but definitely not a plan A.Originally posted by Surfah View PostMike O'Meara had Ace from a few seasons back on his radio show yesterday, and apparently there are legs to what you just said. I hope not. I was listening to Queen yesterday and Adam can't hold a candle to Freddie.Originally posted by DrumNFeather View PostThe good news for Adam is that Queen has been looking for a new frontman for about 30 years. Perhaps they found one.
I just can't stand that squeal. It mike work at the right moments, but it's a gimmick he uses far too often. Ugh."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

This actually is not true, all of the top 12/13 sign binding contracts with 19 entertainment. That is why that Mario kid from a few years ago dropped out because he felt like he could make it big on his own and didnt like the restrictions. The only difference is that the winner signs a 3 (could be 4) album deal, where the others only sign a 1 or 2 if at all. But 19 entertainment gets the first crack at them.Originally posted by Fiyero View PostKris is bound into the RCA contract and will have to sing the cookie cutter songs that they hand him, and he will probably have very little freedom for his first record or two, like most new acts.
