Atease has been melting down since yesterday afternoon. I was able to get on late last night, but it's been impossible today. And no, it's not the Harry Patch song. There is a huge debate about it's origin on fan sites -- some same it's new, some are convinced it's something that was recorded but never released from the Amnesiac or HTTT era. The song is very cool, thought it doesn't feel like a finished product -- there are two rather obvious edits in the middle, and the production doesn't quite seem done.

Its a pretty sweet song. Sounds more In Rainbows than Amnesiac, so HTTT might be its genesis. Or it might just be new. I've only listened to it once. Where are the obvious edits?
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

        More speculation from atease:

In an interview with The Australian, Jonny Greenwood said that Radiohead are still recording songs: “There’s a bunch of stuff slowly growing, some more finished than others.” The fact that not everything is finished, does not rule out a release. Jonny continues: “Traditionally we’d be looking for 10 or 11 songs and putting them together, but that doesn’t feel as natural as it used to, so I don’t know what we’ll do. Maybe we’ll find four songs that work together and we’ll call that a release. I don’t know. No one knows how to release music any more, including us,” he says. “How to put it together, in what format, how long. We’re in the dark as much as anyone I think.”

Last week we reported about Thom Yorke’s interview with the Believer where he stated that Radiohead are done with releasing full length albums for a while. Thom Yorke: “None of us want to go into that creative hoo-ha of a long-play record again. Not straight off. I mean, it’s just become a real drag. It worked with “In Rainbows” because we had a real fixed idea about where we were going. But we’ve all said that we can’t possibly dive into that again. It’ll kill us.”

Thom and Jonny’s quotes, the recent work in the studio and last night’s leak might point to a release sooner rather than later. ‘These Are My Twisted Words’ might be one of those four tracks Jonny mentioned. In the source files of the track that ended up on the message board, the title ‘Wall Of Ice’ was found twice as well as a release date of August 17, 2009. A digital release of Radiohead’s ‘Wall Of Ice EP’ this Monday, anyone?

I would love to find out what is in that vault. More than anything, I would love to get a recorded copy of Big Boots and Lift. I would also be curious to hear what their attempts to record True Love Waits have sounded like.

            The plot thickens:

I just typed in wallofice.com and it did indeed take me to the W.A.S.T.E. shop.

Why do you say that now? I'll admit, this whole thing has felt a bit too orchestrated for me.

Because some serious geeks have tracked the website's registration to some dude in the Netherlands. He's re-directing to W.A.S.T.E.

You took the time to read all the comments by those nerds? Better you than me. I guess Monday will not be so exciting after all.

Well it's just the wallofice website that is a farce. Some DJ picked up on the madness and wanted to play a little joke -- at least that's the speculation.

The whole origin of the song/message is still unknown, though it seems to be consensus that it came from Thom.

After a few more listens, the song feels like an HTTT era recording. Sounds a little like There, There. Are you saying the consensus is that Thom released it, or that its Thom's work (and not the band's)?

That Thom released it. That's the dominant theory, anyway. Nobody is positive.

The band has been contacted by about every music magazine in the world at this point and hasn't responded.

                          • Ed confirms today that the band is hoping to get LP8 out next year!

I'm really liking the recent material and think this is going to be another great album.

                            • Another full month in the studio and not a damn peep. They've logged major hours so far and we can't get word one of what's going on other than Thom's playlists and Jonny's favorite video games.

                              Give us something! Anything!!!

                              • I love radiohead and I have to say-- with all the objectivity I can muster-- I think they need to follow SP's model for releases.

I just got my Teargarden by Kaleidyscope vinyl/cd EP box set vol. 1 and it is an impressive package. The 4 songs are hit and miss, but they have 40 more to put out and there are a lot of highly anticipated songs coming down the pike. Plus they had a 5 hour live stream from the studio on saturday that was not only extremely fascinating and really built a lot of excitement for the direction they are headed.

Radiohead may be the opposite of that. They just put out good records out of the blue (whereas Billy Corgan is super ambitious and makes about 5-7 promises to every project he releases). I think Radiohead could do a better job of getting the excitement built up for their releases so I can be properly disappointed the way I'm used to!
