They are of no significance. There is no nuance to this newest iteration. Completely disappointing and as others have stated the acting is abysmal, even by Star Wars, versions 1, 2 and 3 standards. Why the hell was Fisher ever contracted to stand there lifelessly?!"Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr Epstein."
Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

Weird comments. The subplots of 1. Finn's defection from the First Order and journey finding his own identity, 2. Rey's arc as a nobody to discovering that she maybe is somebody, 3. Han picking himself up from a failure at everything to sacrifice it all for a chance to get his son and life back, 4. Kylo Ren as a fledgling dark side apprentice whose mettle hadn't been tested having to choose between his dark and light heritage in the worst possible way.. all buttressing the overarching plot of Finding Luke Skywalker. (similarities/throwbacks to ep IV i.e. starkiller base, desert planet, etc. are really just framing elements and not the plot as has been alleged). Zero nuance? Of no significance? You may dislike Star Wars, so in that respect it is of no significance to you, but it's all plenty significant to the storyline.
And the acting is abysmal? Really? Fisher wasn't great for the 5 minutes she was in it, sure, but the performances of Boyega, Ridley, Ford, Driver, Gleeson and Isaac (all the principals) have all been universally lauded because they were pretty fantastic. In fact, easily the best acting in a Star Wars film across the board ever.
Cut it out, man."I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! I'll make his whole brand go under,"

Oh by nerd did you mean someone who has actually watched the movie and paid attention? Because it was pretty light lifting swatting away your dumb argument about the movie.Originally posted by Topper View PostNerd alert!"I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! There is plenty of plagiarism in the movie.Originally posted by Commando View PostOh by nerd did you mean someone who has actually watched the movie and paid attention? Because it was pretty light lifting swatting away your dumb argument about the movie.
You used a bunch of logical fallacies, not the least of which arguing everybody lauded the a ting performances. I don't know what movie people were watching but the performances were pure shit. There are plenty panning the acting. Even Lucas has criticized the film for lack of novelty and playing it safe. You would make a great apologist. Welcome home Dan!"Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr Epstein."

Gee maybe laced throughout the 94% positive reviews by hundreds of professional movie critics, you big dummy. And george lucas is funny- he's the one who built 2 death stars in a row, created jar jar, killed darth maul, made Greedo fire a shot, and made anakin from the same planet as Luke. Let's keep this going- Post again and retreat from your previous dumb arguments and throw out even dumber, flimsier assertions.Originally posted by Topper View PostThere is plenty of plagiarism in the movie.

1. Speaking of logical fallacies, you resort to "nerd alert" as your refutation of what he said first. I believe ad hominem resides atop the heap of bullshit rhetorical strategies.Originally posted by Topper View PostThere is plenty of plagiarism in the movie.

2. Please tease out the nuances of Daisy Ridley's "pure shit" performance. Explain why the je ne sais quois wasn't there for you. Did she stumble over her lines? Were they quality material that she was incapable of emoting? Was her poise, demeanor, or physicality not in line with your who-knows-from-whence-they-stem expectations for the role? In case you can't tell, I'm sneering at you, like Philip Seymour Hoffman while listening to headphones in The Talented Mr Ripley.

Let's not forget what he did to Indiana Jones. The South Park people satirize it best in The China Problem.Originally posted by Commando View PostGee maybe laced throughout the 94% positive reviews by hundreds of professional movie critics, you big dummy. The sass and witty banter between her and Ford was gone. Perhaps that was intentional to show that the sexual tension had gone since they were married and had extinguished that flame, but Ford's lines were pretty typical of what Solo would say. Fisher was very matronly and almost nurturing, which, to men, might seem less martial, and more marital. We expect generals to be more resolved--though in Star Wars Ackbar is almost comical, especially in E6.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostDisagree. She was way worse than she was in the three originals. Seemed like she was just mailing it in. Thankfully her screen time was relatively short."Wuap's "problem" is that he is smart & principled & committed to a moral course of action. His actions are supposed to reflect his ethical code.

Just for fun, I thought it would be interesting to look at the IMDB ratings for the various episodes.
Episode 1: 6.5
Episode 2: 6.7
Episode 3: 7.7
Episode 4: 8.7
Episode 5: 8.8
Episode 6: 8.4
Episode 7: 8.6
Most major movie events like this enjoy a big ratings bump on release and then gradually degrade over time, so there is no way Episode 7 will stay at 8.6. For example, The Dark Knight Rises was in the mid-9 range (and top-ten all-time) when it first came out. Now it is 8.5 and #172. For Star Wars Episode 7, I am guessing somewhere in the 7.5-8.0 is where it will eventually land. Will be interesting to see.Last edited by Jeff Lebowski; 12-31-2015, 12:25 PM."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? 3 is 7.7, wow. I agree generally with these, but I would put 3 more around 7.2ish. Then maybe flip 4 and 5. And Ep 7 would more like an 8.0, on that scale.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostJust for fun, I thought it would be interesting to look at the IMDB ratings for the various episodes.
