That brings back memories--from about 20 years ago. Is he still alive?
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

If skills sold, truth be told, I'd probably be
      Lyrically Talib Kweli

When he is on, Talib Kweli is my favorite MC. I really didn't like the Beautiful Struggle and haven't really been paying attention to hip-hop the past few years, so I'm out of the loop if his latest stuff is up to Black Starr and Reflection Eternal.

A few others that I still listen to frequently: Mos Def, Common, Q-Tip, Gift of Gab, Guru

As far as unknowns, Count Bass-D. Pre-Life Crisis is still in regular rotation for me.

Nas' latest is pretty great- nearly on par with his 90s stuff - just without the immediacy/relevance.

This is old, but solid stuff, it's at the roots of Italian rap and the political movement of the Centri Sociali in the early 90s. It's not really Italian, rather Neapolitan dialect

This is an interesting mixed language rap. I like the chorus.

Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.

This is an adaptation of an old day worker song that was common around Naples. It's got a kind of soul/blues feel to it.

I figured you'd hate Talib "lyrics stick to ya rib" once he released a major album 3-4 years ago and appears on a couple Kanye albums. Usually you don't like guys once they want to make money and not be obscure true fans only guys.

Homie I can divide that's a one hot album every ten year average.

Except that I like Kanye, so fame and money aren't the issue with Talib. It isn't like the Beautiful Struggle made him famous either. It was just a mediocre album by his standard.

While, I don't like everything they've done, I think that Outkast, both of them, are pretty clever.

I also loved House of Pain, The Fresh Prince, Run DMC, and Young MC, but those are quaint memories of a bygone era. When I think "legitimate rap," Outkast comes to mind. Snoop Dogg too, but he gets filthy.
