All I know is that legitimate rap shuts down my normal bodily functions and makes it hard to conceive anything else I'd rather be hearing.

Hmm. In short, I would say a "legitimate rapper" is one who abides by the unspoken code of Hip Hop. 'Keep it Real' is a long-played out maxim, but applies in all cases. Lots of rappers get a pass depending on where they're from. Ever wonder why Everlast never got any flack for using the N word and Eminem has yet to use it?

Some of the greatest rappers of all time.. a list that's been but here goes: Rakim, KRS-One, Treach, Eminem, Biggie, Q-Tip, Ice Cube, M.C. Ren, Nas, Jay-Z, Pharaoh Monch, 2Pac, Andre 3000, Big L, DJ Run, Mixalot, Guru, Kurupt, Redman, Heavy D, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Chuck D, LL, Raekwon, the GZA, Busta Rhymes, Slick Rick, Big Daddy Kane.

We could probably whittle that down to Rakim, eminem, KRS, Treach and Biggie. What were the other questions? Oh yeah. My radio shuts down when like Asher Roth or somebody comes on Thank goodness for that natural response!
