They've got a ton a stories to tell, they're the History Channel dammit.

Here's one right off the top of my head, and it's influenced by last Sunday's Game of Thrones episode -- but how about a miniseries about Charles Martel and the Battle of Tours? Would the History Channel even touch this? Muslims nowadays seem to get pissed off over a lot less than they would over a dramatic recounting of the story of a European army beating back an aggressive Islamic army.

Maybe they could extend it out and have it be about Charles Martel through Charlemagne, take some of the emphasis off the Battle of Tours. This might be too ambitious for the History Channel. This would require some major coin.
I'd like to see a three parter beginning at Hahns Mill, and ending at Mountain Meadow. Warts and all. From the perspective of the of both parties.

I watched the first part last night. Relative to some of the offerings on AMC, FX, and A&E, this is very average TV (I'll leave Showtime and HBO offerings out of the comparison, as they are premium cable channels and can obviously go places regular cable can't). However, if you've been on a steady network diet of Hawaii Five-0 and CSI, or if your regular cable viewings include Deadliest Catch or Truck Stop Missouri, I can totally understand why this show is blowing your mind.

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

After watching Part 1 and hearing about "Camp Chase, Ohio". I decided to look it up and found out that Camp Chase is right down the road here in Downtown Columbus in Westgate.. This place is now a cemetary for the Confederate Soilders that died..

More interesting information and photos on this website dedicated to Camp Chase:

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

                Wed night breaks a record:

The last installment on Wednesday night landed 14.3 million viewers, which means that it’s now the most-watched, non-sports telecast on ad-supported cable in history.

How long until some local church leader cites this mini-series as proof of why you should keep the law of chastity?

We have all three episodes on tivo. Finally watched the first episode last night.

I enjoyed it overall, but am already growing tired of these inbred hayseeds getting upset over every little stupid thing and then blaming anyone and everyone of the opposing family. "Hey, you stole my pig...I hate everyone with your last name!" The scene in which Big Love lugs his daughter's clothes chest out into the rain and dumps everything....oh, brother. The slow-mo made it even more annoying.

Also, way too much focus on West Virginia Side Story. If that ends up being a major storyline throughout the 3 episodes, then that tells me that the true history of the Hatfields and McCoys is fairly uninteresting. I find the subplot of Hatfield's growing financial empire to be more compelling.

Still looking forward to Episode 2 tonight.

PS Mare Winningham has not aged well. I'd probably pass on the offer to spill my seed.

I enjoyed the fact that there were zero sympathetic characters in the movie.

Keep watching. The kid (Cap Hatfield) grows up - one doesn't want to be the target in his rifle site.
