  • Blackberry Torch

I love it. It may not be as user friendly as the iPhone, except for the classic Blackberry keyboard, which is indidpensable (the Torch does have an obligatory touch screen key board as well). But it seems to be able to do everything the iPhone can do. It's also a fraction of the price as the i-phone.

What are your expectations for the Amazon Fire? It seems it may ultimately be Bezos (technically a genexer, by the way, and a Princeton graduate) who takes over the world.

It still has the shitty Blackberry OS so no thank you.

Is not. A phone is a phone, YFA. What do you want me to say about the phone?

This week was time for a new smartphone. I got the Blackberry 9900, resisting the urge to get an iphone or other currently more fashionable brand. I am loyal, don't easily abandon those who have helped me, and I'm scared to give up the blackberry keypad.

I love the 9900; the keypad is big and meaty. The touchscreen (albeit small due to the keypad) is state of the art. The resolution is crtystaline.

This is their best device ever. I think the two piece Torch was a wrong turn. I never used the secondary touch screen key pad. Blackberry should stick to what it does best.

You forgot that it is still using the shitty Blackberry OS.

For email and typing, Blackberry has been my favorite phone. I wish it had the app's available for Android. Or I wish someone made a Blackberry like phone for Android.

I just read a story the other day about Blackberry and Microsoft having the same market share now. It's not because Microsoft's market share is growing, Blackberry just continues to crater.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Once the government signs off on Android and iOS it is game over for RIM (a matter of when not if, and likely in the next couple of months). The only reason they're hanging on is because of government contracts.

That may be true, but when BlackBerry's best ever is years behind the current competition, that's a huge problem. However, I supposed if you do nothing with your phone but talk, email and text, its probably a great phone.
