It doesn't surprise me that shows like Community or Arrested Development get canceled at all. Likewise it doesn't surprise me that Katy Perry and Avril Lavigne sell millions of records while reputable bands making art languish in poverty.

I was watching the Halloween episode of community w a buddy of mine and was cracking up while the humor seemed to be bouncing off his big dumb eyelids. It didn't surprise me. He's also a big U2 and Coldplay fan but gets mad if I put on bands in the car he hasn't heard of- or any song not called Creep by Radiohead

I'm willing to admit to a guilty pleasure of 2 Broke Girls. It is an awful show, and ldc literally gives me an when she comes into the room and I am watching. I like it though.

Hey we all have our strengths and weaknesses, and his nuance-deafness is a constant source of frustration to me, which I have not been afraid to call to his attention.

My style of watching shows is weird. I never watch a show until it's been out for a while, usually more than a year. If the reviews are outstanding, I start watching it from the beginning and usually don't stop even after it stops being good. For instance, I still watch Bones. Oy does that show suck. Doubly so since I know too much about the subject matter.

That being said, I'm a bit disappointed to see Community foundering, since I've really enjoyed it. Some episodes don't do anything for me, but every season has had some really clever and funny stuff. I agree about Chevy Chase being a bore and a lot of the plots seeming increasingly desperate, but the relationship between Troy and Abed is still hysterical.

Edit: There are exceptions to this pattern of note. I couldn't stomach Modern Family after the few episodes, and the first episode of Friday Night Lights and Spartacus were so poorly acted that I gave up on them. I understand they both got a lot better eventually, so it's possible I could give them another shot.

I didn't think it was... shows sometimes go on 1/2 season hiatus to fold in new shows. 30 Rock had its turn, the Office had its turn...

It happened to Parks & Rec, and that's a show that didn't get funny until season 2. Outsourced has its moments, too, but unfortunately the Indian jokes only get you so far. Kath & Kim- I never gave it a chance. I think I tried to watch once but it never broke the ice w me, despite my fancy of Selma Blair


*um actually, upon further review, both Kath & Kim and Outsourced ran the full course of the pilot season and were simply not renewed. Neither went on "hiatus"...

True, although both of those started seasons in the midseason ostensibly because of the pregnancies/birthgiving of their leads. Community getting pulled at midseason is a less hopeful sign. Don't get me wrong. Nobody has announced it being cancelled and they have said that they are still filming all 22 episodes for season 3, so it could definitely be worse news.

My initial post was just expressing my sadness at the loss of my favorite comedy block (Community/Parks & Rec) come midseason.
