I liked it, but it has some serious holes that have been mentioned herein. Not mentioning Zito and Hudson as their aces and focusing on the no-names seemed a bit disingenuous. But, I liked the film.

Moneyball is one of my favorite books that I have ever read and obviously the A's are my baseball team. I was never going to see the movie that I wanted to be made, because the movie that I wanted made would never have been commercially viable.
I enjoyed the movie. It was a good dramatization of the book and really was made the only way you could make that movie into a book and get people to watch it. You obviously just had to focus on the story of the most interesting person in the book, Billy Beane. While I have my complaints, it was an entertaining movie. Of course they ignored things like Zito, Hudson, and Mulder because it didn't push forward the story of "Beane is doing something different."As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

Also, if anyone wants to watch a movie that really captures baseball better than any other movie, the movie to watch is Sugar. Moneyball is a interested story with baseball as a part of the story. As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

I tell everyone who likes baseball to see this movie. I was around kids like Sugar quite a bit, and the story just really resonated with me.
When you listen to interviews with the people involved with Moneyball (Miller, Pitt, Hill, etc.), none of them connected with it because it was about baseball. They all talk about how they loved the underdog story, the idea of someone trying to up end a system, etc. Pitt pushed really hard to get this thing done and he's admittedly not even a baseball fan. Thus, you get the movie we got, which is very good, but more about an individual than the game itself.
Fleck is a big baseball guy, so he wanted to tell a particular baseball story. Boden was not as into the baseball aspect as the immigrant story, so I think between them they come up with a really nice story that sort of encompasses a multitude of ideas. Sugar is a character piece like Moneyball as well, but it shows more interest in the sport itself. So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.
