The Lyanna Mormont character is going away for awhile and she'll be reintroduced as a grown woman (or whatever qualifies as a grown woman at that time).

She has the same name as his mother and the Mormonts have had a prominent place on the show.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

    • So the bastard is still a bastard. IMHO Jon would rather be the bastard of Eddard than Rhaegar. It's like thinking that you are the Lt Governor of the State of Utah, only to find that you're the Veep of the US. Less power, much more threat, no real home base to carry out forays from.

Agree about the union of Jon and Dany. I think Bran Stark should not be ruled out with riding a Dragon. Although I'm not sure how he would actually get on top of a Dragon, the original 3-eyed raven replied to Bran when he asked him if he would ever walk again: "You won't ever walk, but you will fly". I think Jon Snow will be needed on the ground slaying the white walkers with his Valyrian steel sword (Longclaw) while the Dragons burn all the zombies/wights. Interesting that his buddy Sam Tarly also now posses one as well.

As far as Ned Stark taking the parentage of Jon Snow to the grave, that was not his intention, but ended up being the case. The last time Ned and Jon spoke, Ned promised to tell Jon all about his mother the next time they met. Ned knew that meeting would be after Jon took the Night's Watch vow and Jon would be protected by taking the black. The former maester of Castle Black was a Targaryen and King Robert couldn't kill him even though he may have wanted to since he was a member of the Night's Watch and was no longer considered a Targaryen.

I wonder if Littlefinger will somehow become or join the White Walkers if it is his only way to gain the Iron Throne.

Members of the Night's Watch take vows to never procreate, and to give up all claims to inheritance. Thus Jon would no longer be a threat to King Robert.

He's a warg. He doesn't have to get on no dragon.

                • So there's supposedly 13 episodes left total.

i wonder if HBO will look into a spinoff or prequel. It's by far their highest rated show ever.

Well... the end game is figured out. Fire kills White Walkers, Dragons breathe fire, Dragons with riders kill the White Walkers. In the meantime, there's lots of good details to "flesh" out.

                    • I think the evil maester guy with the army of street urchins is an underrated villain. Want to see him get it next. Him or Cercei has to be #1.

As far as underrated good guys go, would like to see the new Lord Commander -- whose name I can't remember -- make it to the end. He is still alive, right?

So is Arya supposed to have gone and killed all the Freys now? Is she going to free her worthless uncle?

The show sure economized its number of characters for the final season(s) -- lover boy is left in mereen(?), the uninteresting Tyrells all got the axe along with the high sparrow, etc.

I think the Citadel/Maesters are going to become big players in the final seasons of the show.

The thing is, in the books the "little birds" are still Varys's - he didn't go to Meereen in the books, and it was him in the books who had Pycelle (and actually Kevan Lannister, too) killed by the little birds. As good a character as Varys is in the show, I think he's even better in the books. However, in the shows, I do like the interaction between him and Tyrion, which is missing from the books.

Dolorous Ed is the new Lord Commander - he's even more of a favorite of the book readers - I hope he's still there, too. Though I suspect the Night Watch (as well as some of the Wall) are not going to survive the invasion.

Some think they're plugging Arya into the role of Lady Stoneheart (resurrected Catelyn Stark), which means she'll join up somehow with the Brotherhood and then go around killing Lannisters and other enemies of the Starks. I'm afraid, though, that if they really are putting her into the Lady Stoneheart role, that means she's disposable in the books.

Margaery's death shocked me. The High Sparrow's didn't. The manner of Tommen's death shocked me, but the fact it occurred didn't.

We're seriously running out of main characters to kill off, though. Sorry, Brienne, Sansa, Arya, Theon, Davos and Melisandre.

In the books, the Iron Bank was becoming a huge player by the end of the last book. Maybe the Citadel is going to step into the bank's role?

                          • I was about to get rid of HBO but they provided an early release of the first episode of The Night Of. I have to hold onto the subscription longer now, thr first episode was excellent.
