I'm reading the latest volume right now (A Dance with Dragons). I love the books, and I love the series.

Anyone remember the one they tried to do from Terry Goodkind's series? The television series was very disappointing.

This one - they nailed it. I really hope they continue the television series through the whole book series, although at the rate Martin gets them to publication, soon we'll have to wait five years between seasons.

We are stoked for the new season. Faith read the entire series, finishing the last book a couple of months ago. It was her understanding that the last book was the LAST book in the series.

The next two books are The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring with the latter currently planned as the end of the series.

Based on where A Dance with Dragons left us I'd be surprised if he can finish the series in two more books. I'd guess three or four will be needed to let things play out at the pace the series has been moving.

Faith will be very happy to hear this. She was really disappointed that the series had left so many loose ends with the 'final' book.

I just finished watching the series a couple of nights ago. They did a good job, but way over-sexualized things. Not that I'm really complainingl, mind you. There are several other things I didn't like vs. the books, but overall, the depiction in the TV series was really good. I especially like the casting for Jon, Theon, Bran and Tyrion.

The books are very sexual. I didn't think the series was out of step with the books on that issue.

I'll bet that Earthlings' weird sexual hangups are fairly unique in the cosmos. After all, there is sex in outer space that so exquisite that if we had an inckling of what we are missing we would be crushed and debilitated under an intolerable weight of despair and regret.

So I'm debating adding HBO for the next 2 months so that I can watch season 2 without stealing it from the interwebs. But I need a good reason to spend the $16/month extra other than just Thrones. HBO tends to show the same movies over and over again for a month, so i don't see that much value there. Are there any other new HBO series that I shouldn't be missing?

Do you watch Boardwalk Empire? That's a good one. I also started season 1 of Treme, but have yet to catch up. I like it, though it's probably not everyone's thing.
