I rewatched the series from the beginning this week. It's so much better and coherent when you're not stretching the story out over three years! Also, I watched with subtitles and found that I missed a whole lot the first time around.

Also, I have decided on some new heroes in the story- for me anyway: Jaime Lannister and the Hound. All things being equal, two pretty noble characters whose goodness isn't immediately recognizable or is obscured, and whose rotten points are justified or mitigated. The GOT world is extremely bleak and everyone has done despicable things, but I like to compartmentalize and organize the characters into my little paradigms. This show has lots of smoke screens and tries to buck the regular archetypes, but this is what I have.
The obvious heroes-- all of the Starks and their cohorts, Daenerys Targarian, Tyrion Lannister, the Black Watch, Tyrells,
The bad guys-- Tywin, Cersei, Littlefinger, Ramsey Snow, the cannibals, Balon Greyjoy, Walder Frey, Robin Arryn, Gregor
Not sure -- Theon/Reek, Stannis Baratheon, Lord Varys, lots of others."I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! I'll make his whole brand go under,"

Interesting lists. I would switch around a few, but for the most part, I agree.Originally posted by Commando View PostAlso, I have decided on some new heroes in the story- for me anyway: Jaime Lannister and the Hound. Since people watch the show from the DVR at different times (or live in different time zones), most of us are considerate to our fellow posters and try to use the spoiler tag or be more cryptic until the next day at least. All of us that hit refresh on Tapatalk yesterday saw your post at the top of the feed and therefore had the most interesting and most highly anticipated part of the episode ruined for us. Way to go.Originally posted by UVACoug View PostHuh?"There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

I did find this, though:Spoiler for wow:Well that was depressing. I guess as far as GOT goes, we got off pretty easy though. I had a sinking feeling when he started repeating his little mantra as he was fighting, because that's a sign that the writers are about to get cute.

Spoiler for furthermore:I don't believe at all that this is the end of Tyrion. The situation is a bit more complicated here. For example, both champions are now dead.... has that ever happened? Is there a rule book that states that the bloodier death is the one that counts? Tywin declared a winner, but I don't think it's going to be that quick and easy. Especially now that Jaime is not bound to leave the King's Guard and there are no more descendants of Tywin to keep the Lannister name going."I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! Gregor then summons the rest of his considerable strength to smash Oberyn's head before rolling over and presumably dying. I could be wrong, I suppose. Either way, Jaime and Tyrion haven't given up just yet. I would assume the execution would take place right there on the spot, so they left us at a good cliffhanger right before the escape or whatever's about to happen. I mean- if GOT was going to do it the GOT way, they would have beheaded Tyrion right before credits for the ultimate

What a horrible gut punch, I hated it. Shouldn't have been sucked in by the writers, I hated this death.
Now I can already see what's happening, at least in my mind, the Mountain just admitted to hundreds of witnesses that he murdered and raped Elia Martell, most likely at the request of Tywin.
I'm to assume that this now will start another storyline involving Dorne and the Lannisters will be spread even more thin than they currently are.
