  • Hey, I made Round 3 too!

And I'm still alive. 250/5000; 5%; that's better than Law Review.

Wow. That's wonderful. Way to go.

So how does this contest work? Panel of experts?

Amazon in-house editors and Amazon Vine reviewers have evaluated up to now. Now I get the whole manuscript reviewed by Publishers Weekly. The contest pool was originally 5000, then 1000, now 250. 5% sounds nice but you have to be well inside of the best 1% plus lucky to get published of course. The next cut is from 250 to 50 (YA and General each). At that point Penguin editors review and select 3 out of YA and General each for a vote. The winners in each category get an automatic publishing contract.

The initial cut was based on concept, the product description blurb that you can see there, essentialluy. The second cut is based on the first 5000 words. The next two based on review of the entire manuscript.

I see it as another slush pile plus opportunity for feedback and attract attention. It's a long process but I'm getting closer.

My novel is kind of controversial. I'm not sure how that will play into a publicity event such as this.

That is awesome. I find it hard to believe you would write anything controversial.

So this is what you do during depositions.

              Congrats SU, that's really cool.

Excellent. This will be on my Kindle before the day is through. Should I start reading it before or after I start preparing my Sunday School lesson?

you should probably prepare your lesson first since you have to give it tomorrow.
