  • I tried catching up with Last Chance U a while back, but I think I tried bingeing and it's a little like drinking out of a firehose. Maybe I'll give it a shot again soon.

Why are all HC’s on this show complete douchebags.

This one is just a thug moonlighting as a football coach.

Did you skip a season? This is the 2nd season with this guy.

He had to step down in February of this year after texting one of the German kids on his team that "I am your new Hitler." Didn't go over well.

No I didn’t. Him and Buddy are narcissistic control freaks. And love their egos stroked with wins and having power over kids.

FYI: He also is up on 8 felonies. 4 for impersonating a lawyer (Identity Theft) and 4 counts of blackmail.

Like I said. Straight up thug..

          • Both my wife and I enjoyed Adam Sandler's Murder Mystery. I'm watching Ken Burns' Civil War series with Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee as a palate cleanser.

            • Almost done watching When They See Us, a limited series about the Central Park 5 made by Ava DuVernay that just got nominated for a ton of Emmys. I am a sucker for wrongful conviction stories, and really enjoyed the Ken Burns documentary from a few years ago, so I expected to really like this. It is good, but I came away a little disappointed. The acting is great and it is shot beautifully, but it felt a little too one-sided. All the white characters were monsters and almost all the black/hispanic characters were saints. It looks like they tried to age the kids down a little, based on the pictures I've seen, probably to make them more sympathetic. And of course, Trump plays a role (as one of the monsters), which is probably deserved. The whole thing felt like a piece of political rhetoric, sometimes at the expense of good drama. I think the Central Park 5 are almost certainly innocent of the crimes they were convicted of, but I think the series would have been more interesting if it had been a little more factual and showed a few more shades of gray.

How many shades of gray would it have needed to make it more interesting for you - around 50?

That certainly would have been interesting.

I would say that most head football coaches are narcissistic control freaks. Not all, but most.

                    • A couple jokes from Seinfeld's latest round of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee -- these are paraphrased:

-- with Eddie Murpy -- "You ever see two homeless people speaking to each other? You know one is giving advice to the other one."

-- with Martin Short -- "Isn't Katelyn Jenner without makeup just Bruce Jenner?"
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

                        • Finished Broadchurch last night. Season 1 was great. Season 2 was quite a drop off. Season 3 was solid.

They found a pretty much complete human skeleton in an underwater cave in the Yucatan along with the remains of a bunch of prehistoric animals. They determined the skeleton was from an adolescent girl - around 16 years old. Carbon dating using the enamel from her teeth indicated she was about 13,000 years old - one of the oldest skeletal remains found in the Western Hemisphere.
