I'm not going to lie, there is a part of me that hopes he has career arc like Shelly. I watched a great documentary not long ago called That Guy...Who Was In That Thing. It followed 16 actors who everyone would immediately recognize but you'd be hard pressed to identify them by name. It was interesting to hear their struggles and successes. Any of these guys would kill to have been a lead on show like Downton, and to walk away from that? Dan Stevens has some cojones.

After it happened I read that the latest event went down because the actor in question didn't like what his character was being given to do and wanted out. So this isn't the result of the writers shaking things up. No guarantee the result will be positive.

My wife was pissed! She said it ruined the whole series for her. I don't think we want to watch season 4 now. Too bad. The writing, Acting and storyline were all excellent. Although my bar is low I think my English improved by watching.

On the contrary. The entire series was turning into a sappy 100%-predictable snooze fest. Shaking things up will be good.

Just finished Season 1 and bought Season 2 on Amazon. I like it far more than I thought I would.

Bates is the man. He has arguably the most attractive character on the show all over his old self.
