  • The Amazing Race 17

I can believe I still like this show, after I've given up on most other reality shows. A testament to the productions values I guess.

I found the cast much more likeable this season than most, but it's only week one. I thought for sure I would hate the shopping network chicks, but that melon sequence was good stuff.

    Spoiler for who lost:
I am so mad the 2 black guys lost. I thought they added a good element to the show.

I liked them too. Their navigational issues were unfortunate, but they went out with class.

I read their interview, they got on the wrong payroad, with no exit for over 30 miles in the wrong direction. Dude needed to bust out his compass. Said they drove for over 8 hours that day.

I think the cast this season looks good. Only a few throw away teams.

But that dude had a compass and an MBA. How could they get so lost?

The VB chicks bug me. Enough with the profanity already.

I like the acapella boys. Also plenty of dating couples to provide drama.

That watermelon to the face was brutal. "I can't feel my face, I can't feel my face."
          Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

The VB chicks are from Jersey. What did you expect?

I like the docs. They seem pretty normal. I also usually hate the beauty queen types (miss teen SC anyone?) but I think that Miss Kentucky and her dad are neat and cheerful.

Football boy and pixie girl who bought a house together are going to end up in a major fight. Mark my words.

              I second that.

I applied for this show a few years ago and didn't get on, so I'm a little bitter but still like it. I applied with my best friend, who I met on my mission, so with all the gay couples they have on the show, former missionary companions seemed like the next logical step.

I watched season 1, and have not watched it since. Never real got in to it.

Love this show. This is a REAL reality show.. No editing, no mid-game interviews to stir the pot. Just people out on the road that can be tense and cause normal tension and friction among people.. Throw them in foreign countries and it is perfect..

I like the docs and the dad/daughter combo from Kentucky, too. "They looked like two carnies in a dunkin' booth!"

Speaking of the football dude and his gal, how many people nowadays meet and then within 8 months have purchased a home together? That seems like a big step to take with someone you haven't known that long. Maybe they jumped on a great foreclosure since they're in FL?
I have nothing else to say at this time.

Even nowadays, I'm not sure I'd purchase a home with anybody short of marriage. Split rent, I understand. Purchase something? Big deal.

I agree that this cast has a bunch of "good" teams. Even the bad teams are good.

"Do you know what country we're in?"

                          "London."

                          "Yep, the country of London."

                          I love Phil.
"They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Agreed on Miss Kentucky and her dad, very fun.

I feel sorry for the tattoo couple. Totally out of their element. It's as if they've never read a book. I'll be pulling for them.

Who was the couple that won the first leg? Is that the couple that bought the house together? The girl seemed pissed the whole time.

I like the tattoo couple too - they were really laid back even though they had to be a bit stressed. Likable, ink notwithstanding.

The winners were the guy who graduated from ND and his hairstylist eye candy chick. I don't like them that much, mostly because I think he treats her like she is dumb and because she really is dumb.
