I don't know that I could come up with a top 5, but I would have Shawshank on it (mentioned a lot here), and Silence of the Lambs (Surprised it hasn't made anyone's list yet).

I guess I really like thrillers, because Psycho would be up there as well.

Cool Hand Luke is in my honorable mentions. Great movie with so many quotable lines and some almost perfect cinematography…not to mention the whole “Savior” aspect that runs through it and gives it a spiritual vibe. So good.

Good Will Hunting is one of my faves. Watched it with the wife a couple of days ago.

Man-- watching this movie back before you knew who any of the actors were (minus Robin Williams of course) was so much fun!

Many of you mentioned 'There Will Be Blood.' Undeniably a great movie, but really haunted me back when I watched it. I can't put my finger on it, but maybe creeped me out, like Daniel Day Lewis' character gave me a really evil vibe? Maybe it was the way he treated his 'son' that was disturbing to me. Anyone have any similar experiences?

Oh yeah. Beautiful (and I mean beautiful) score. Tight concise plot. LOL and poignant moments. What's not to love?

You're right about that. Had my Disneys mixed up. Oh well.


OMG 1995 was stacked. Did you know that John Travolta AND Samuel L. Jackson were nominated for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor for their roles in Pulp Fiction? Lost to Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump and Martin Landau in Ed Wood. They shoulda won it. OH- and Zemeckis beat Tarantino for Best Director for Forrest Gump

Oh that was also the year that Shawshank and the Mask came out, so the Lion King never stood a chance!

I tell people that the script to GWH was so good that even Robin Williams couldn't screw it up!

Crazy that a couple of college students wrote that script. I wonder how much of it was changed once they got a studio contract after 4 years of shopping it around.
