  • Where do i turn in my man card?

I saw Eclipse with my wife and daughter tonight. And, to be honest, apart from a few lines of dialogue that were oh so teen-angsty, I actually enjoyed it. My reactions include:

    1. Bella is making a HUGE mistake. The wolf is cool.

    2. Why is Bella so desired? her personality strikes me like a big wet rag.

    3. Dakota fanning is not a very good actress.

that's enough. I now see I am just like Pelagius, without the guns and the intelligence, but otherwise . . . .
    PLesa excuse the tpyos.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I had to see it last weekend. It was better than the first two. Cedric Diggory still bugs me. Bella should have chosen the skinwalker.

Whover it is that plays Charlie needs to give acting lessons to everyone else in the cast. He is by far the best actor in these movies.

I shouldn't be surprised that you have this knowledge. That fact that you love you some chicken balls should have been my first clue.

I see it's pulling in a whopping 4.5 rating on IMDB:

          Must be awful.

This is true in the books as well ... if you look at my review of the series I complained about this as one of the series' biggest weaknesses. I suppose if someone was bound and determined to impute meaning to her "wet rag personality" one could say that it represents how all women (even unlikeable ones) should be loved and desired (but I don't think Meyer was going for that, I think she thinks Bella is likeable). Bella does develop as a person in the 4th book a bit though but is very static in the first three.

That's a great question. I sat and "watched" part 2 on DVD at home last week with my wife and daughter and I thought the same thing. Maybe in part 3 it is revealed that she has her own magical powers that cause boys to overlook her dried-paint personality and dour demeanor and want to spend their immortal eternities with her.

Not to mention that Edward is a stalker before they were dating he would sit in her room and stare at here all night. He's controlling (breaks her car when she wants to go visit Jacob).

Kudos to creek for bringing you out of hiding. He's a crafty one, that monkey man. And to think he even acted like he enjoyed a Twilight movie.

I wonder if it was intentional. The books and movies certainly aren't trying to appeal to men, but to girls who probably have as little personality as this girl.

This is my thought as well. A woman with a below average personality will read these books and get hooked thinking "If Bella can land a hot vampite and buff werewolf, then surely I can find a guy." It appeals to all women, but especially to the below average type woman (not that I'm saying all fans of the book are losers). This also explains the type of people who are fanatical about seeing the movie in the first weekend.
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I have to also turn my man card in here by answering, but isn't the explanation, at least for the vampire, that she has a unique smell that affects him powerfully? That doesn't answer it for the were-boy though.

Easy there good buddy. I didn't go by choice my date picked the show. I would have seen something with a lot of f-bombs and violence.

I refuse to believe that my penchant for chicken balls makes me less of a man.

I was really hoping this thread was going to be about the Bachelorette so I could start giving my opinion about how dreamy Roberto is and how annoying Frank is.
