Counting Crows - August & Everything After
3rd Eye Blind - self titled
    Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
    311 - self titled
    Live - Throwing Copper
    Weezer - Blue Album
    Sugar Ray - Floored
    The White Stripes - Elephant

    Many, many more.

Surely not the most critically-acclaimed group of albums, but each of them ties to a specific period in my life. Lots of nostalgia for me in those albums.

Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

Steely Dan was only rated as the 88th best band of all time. That's a crime. Their music holds up very well. Their biggest "hits" are too commercial for me, but their side B stuff is awesome.

      Consider:
      Showbiz Kids
      Don't Take me Alive
      The Caves of Altimira
      The Royal Scam
      Kid Charlemagne
      Your Gold Teeth
      Babylon Sisters
      Dr. Wu
      Black Cow
      Midnight Cruise
      Razor Boy
      Pretzel Logic
Brooklyn (owes the charmer under me)

Pick one of the above at random, and you'll be pleased.

Like what? what was too commercial? I don't think they ever did anything that was very commerical, unless oyu define commercial as being popular. Reelin' in the Years, one of their biggest hits, is not particualrly commercial. ANd it has that great guitar part. It was AOR all the way, back in the day. What else was too commercial? Maybe a couple of the tracks when Mike McDonald was singing back up, but even then they remained pretty true to their own unique vision, IMO.
        PLesa excuse the tpyos.

Yeah, but I thought the topic for this thread is albums.

(if I had to pick a favorite SD song, Don't Take Me Alive would be a finalist. That and Gaucho maybe)

You and I like alot of the same groups but aparently differ over their high points. For example, I like Floyd's DSOTM, but my favorite Floyd album has to eb Wish You Were Here.

An oversight. I should have included that one.

I don't even know if the rest of you even listen to albums anymore, but I still do and there are a few that I enjoy every time I listen to them.
I see you are trying to ingratiate yourself to me.

floored is pretty solid, though despite his latter-day sins.

Peppers. I might also substitute another BDB album, although The Hour of Bewilderbeast is definitely one of my favorites. I'd probably pick the About a Boy soundtrack instead as one that I can listen to straight through over and over.

                          Other albums:

                          In Rainbows - Radiohead
A Ghost is Born - Wilco
                          Jurassic 5 - Quality Control
It seems we do. I'll check out Quality Control as I've never heard of them. I've also never heard A Ghost is Born. I'm a big Wilco fan but I have a funny way of listening/choosing music. I love Wilco but I haven't yet listened to all their stuff. I usually phase stuff in and have found that to be the best way for me to listen.

I wouldn't know. I've never listened to a Sugar Ray album and I'm not about to start now just because D-Hole thinks McGrath is the best Extra co-host ever.

Summerteeth also shouldn't be missed. I think it's their 2nd best (next to YHF, of course).

Oops, I accidently transposed the last one. The album is Quality Control, the band is Jurassic 5. Its hip hop, so if you're not into cool beats and sweet cuts steer clear!
