Anybody else pumped for Hot Tub Time Machine?

    I am.

There's no such thing as luck, only drunken invincibility. Make it happen.

Tila Tequila and Juggalos, America’s saddest punchline since the South.

    Yesterday was Thursday, Thursday
    Today is Friday, Friday (Partyin’)
    …
    Tomorrow is Saturday
    And Sunday comes afterwards

This will either be non-ironic pure awesome or Snakes on a Plane. There is no possible middle ground.

I'm there. I feel cheap already, but I'll be there. The big question is whether I'll be able to secure a date. One would think after 35 years our respective tastes in movies would have become as one, but she has not grown as I have done, and fascinating time-travel studies do not interest her. Her loss. I'll be the solo guy in the trench coat in the back row.

I sense another Daily Universe letter to the editor

This looks like something I will actually like. I may have to break my streak of close to 6 years since I last paid to watch a movie in a theater, especially if it's a CUFer screening.

Roger Ebert gives it 3 stars.

Considering the premise and the cast (specifically John Cusack and Rob Corddry), 3 stars from Ebert is enough motivation for me to see it.

If you're still interested, we should get a group of dudes together and see it this weekend. I know Canuck and Buzz are always game for a flick, in addition to CUFfers.

Somebody explain to me the excitement over this movie. To me it seems like manufactured hype exercising the same "we'll-make-the-title-so-literal-it-becomes-ironic-joke" strategy that SNAKES ON A PLANE did a few years ago. And remember? SNAKES ON A PLANE was neither awesome nor the "so bad it's good" experience everyone was hoping for. It was just a fizzle. How does this movie look any funnier than any other stupid comedy that's come out in the last five years?

And now somebody will answer with "Hot tub time machine!" Cause apparently that's just inherently funny.
Kids in general these days seem more socially retarded...

None of them date. They hang out. They text. They sit in the same car or room and don't say a word...they text. Then, they go home and whack off to internet porn.

I think that's the sad truth about why these kids are retards.

I assume it is funny because apparently the main characters go back in time and one of them discovers that his mom was actually a party animal. He finds himself in a semi-sexual situation with his mother, although his mother doesn't know that the character is her son. If this sounds vaguely familiar and totally unoriginal, it is because we saw this 25 years ago in Back to the Future. My guess is that the same people that found the Hangover to be funny will find Hot Tub Time Machine to be funny. I think it will likely do good BO, at least in the first couple of weekends.

I thought Hangover was hilarious but don't have any expectation for Hot Tub Time Machine. It has the vibe of one of those movies where they put all five funny moments into the trailer.

An unoriginal idea in today's movies? Never heard of that before.
