I used to watch Tracy Ullman and Gary Shandling shows with my older brother and sister. I was pretty young (I'm not quite 30 now), but I do remember The Simpsons shorts during the Tracy Ullman show quite well. I thought they were really funny as a kid.

The Simpsons was my very favorite show growing up and remains one of my favorites to this day. Unfortunately, 'growing-up' and taking on increased repsonsibilities and priorities has left me with little time to keep up. When I do catch a recent episode I can't help but be a bit disappointed; they don't seem to 'make them like they used to'.

The Tick. Ha. That was actually a pretty entertaining cartoon. I think its humor went over too many kids' heads.

Homer: Marge, how could you let me let myself go like this!?

Marge: Homer, I'm not the one who puts butter in your coffee.
Kids in general these days seem more socially retarded...

None of them date. They hang out. They text. They sit in the same car or room and don't say a word...they text. Then, they go home and whack off to internet porn.

I think that's the sad truth about why these kids are retards.

Remember the live-action version? It had Patrick Warburton as The Tick.

            A few of my favorites:

            When Lisa becomes a vegetarian:
Homer: Wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute. Lisa honey, are you
saying you're *never* going to eat any animal again? What about
            bacon?
            Lisa: No.
            Homer: Ham?
            Lisa: No.
            Homer: Pork chops?
Lisa: Dad! Those all come from the same animal!
Homer: [Chuckles] Yeah, right Lisa. A wonderful, magical animal.
From one of their many wonderful Halloween episodes:
Homer rushes off to the nearest convenient `House of Evil' (your one-
stop Evil shop). He asks the very old Asian owner who appears out of
the shadows if he sells toys.

Owner: We sell forbidden objects from places men fear to tread.
We also sell frozen yogurt, which I call ``Frogurt''!

Homer tells the owner that he is looking for a present for his son's
birthday. The owner hands to him a talking Krusty doll.

Owner: Take this object, but beware it carries a terrible curse!
            Homer: [worried] Ooooh, that's bad.
Owner: But it comes with a free Frogurt!
            Homer: [relieved] That's good.
Owner: The Frogurt is also cursed.
            Homer: [worried] That's bad.
Owner: But you get your choice of topping!
            Homer: [relieved] That's good.
Owner: The toppings contains Potassium Benzoate.
            Homer: [stares]
            Owner: That's bad.
I also love the Halloween episode when Homer sells his soul for a donut. Classic.

I never saw it, though I know of its existence. Did you see it? Was it in the same vein as the cartoon or was it a sorry knock-off?

                The cartoon was vastly superior.

This is true, but the live action one is still worth seeking out. You can rent the whole short season on DVD and it's pretty funny.
