  • Watched Aronofsky's debut film Pi last night. It's about a genius mathematician who starts to unravel in pursuit of decoding the meaning behind a certain set of numbers. Pretty interesting and unsettling movie. Available on Netflix Instant.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Uneven but some pretty hilarious moments. Wish I could figure out how to use the spoilers on this setup.

A bit uneven, but had some really funny moments.

I expect more than this from you.

        • I doubt it's going to be a good movie, but I've been laughing every time I think of that quote from the new trailer "something not that chill happened last night".

I get a kick out of Jonah. He has an exorcism scene in there that is hilarious.

If you don't recoil at vulgarity/profanity, you should probably go with This is the End. I saw the other one and, while it was interesting at first and has some good actors (I like Morgan Freemen, Michael Caine, Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, etc.), by the end of the movie I was more annoyed than entertained, and thought the whole was less than the sum of its parts. I'll see TITE this week and I expect to be grossed out but very amused.

                      • Mud.

It is kind like a modern day Huck Finn coming to age movie. Heavy on the drama.

I saw this last night as well. Good movie.

                          • Saw both Star Trek (forgot the subtitle) and Man of Steel this weekend with SHW. We agree that Star Trek was the better film, but I still liked Man of Steel. Phenomenally grandiose action sequences (despite occurring on a smaller scale than Star Trek) and Amy Adams is back to being hot again. I also liked the nuance they added to Zod.

                            • Just for kicks, my son and I decided to watch Star Trek II, the Wrath of Khan on netflix last night. Fun to see the old gang in action, but wow the computer graphics and special effects sure were primitive back in 1982. Kind of funny to see a story set in the 23rd century take place using 1980's technology. Apparently, in the future they become fond of wireframe graphics and the Courier font. At one point they showed Kirk undergo a retina scan to get security access to a computer. Whoa.

You now watch the original 1967 "space seed" episode from the first season to show that you are a real Trekkie
