Between December and January I watched quite a few movies. I should have done a better job keeping track. A few that I recall:

Thirteen Lives - this was on Amazon Prime. Ron Howard movie on Thailand cave rescue. Really well done - super intense.
Last Night in Soho - HBO Max. Some absurd moments, but some nice plots twists. I liked it overall.
The Menu - HBO Max. I really liked this one. Comedy/Satire/Horror.
Where the Crawdads Sing - Netflix. Recommended.
    Glass Onion - Loved it.
Operation Mincemeat - Netflix. True story from WW2. I had low expectations, but liked it.
Side Effects - Netflix. Again, low expectations but pleasantly surprised.
Hatchet wielding hitchhiker - Netflix doc about a crazy dude. Not bad.
Seven Years in Tibet - Netflix. An old movie I hadn't seen before. Not bad.
The Burbs - Our neighbor said it was her all-time favorite movie. We both thought it was terrible.
Prisoners - Netflix. Incredibly intense. Don't start this late at night. You won't be able to stop.
The Forgotten Battle - Netflix. Decent Dutch-made WW2 drama.
Troll - Netflix. Norwegian movie. OK, but pretty dumb.

I've been holding out on Thirteen Lives since the documentary about the rescue is still fresh in my mind.

We also liked Where the Crawdads Sing and really enjoyed Glass Onion.

I kind of remember The Burbs being not that great. Have to wonder about your neighbor.

I saw this movie in the theater, on an afternoon, with a bunch of bluehairs sitting next to me. I was there with several friends and we were laughing at all the appropriate times. The woman next to me was furious. She thought we were incredibly disrespectful and went so far as to say "there is nothing funny about this movie!!" She later leaned over and asked "which one of you is the guardian of that autistic kid", referencing my 45-year old friend who seemed to enjoy the movie the most (or at least the loudest).

The Burbs with Tom Hanks?? You had never seen The Burbs?? That movie is a treasure.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

That's funny. Reviews are definitely mixed. It worked for us.

I tried really hard to like it! Just couldn't do it.

Yes! The Last Crusade was also more realistic with its 800+ year-old knight, killer cups, and healing grail.

But really, I don't even remember Temple of Doom that much. I was skipping it to make sure we saw The Last Crusade, which I like quite a bit in spite of (because of?) its departures from reality.

Temple of Doom was a ton of fun. Watching it nearly 40 years later it has some very impressive action scenes that more than hold up. A delight to behold.

In that case, maybe I'll add it to the playlist.

And Short Round was such a great side-kick. Love that kid.

Hey, we tried to engage them in polite debate over the nature of the movie. They threatened to call our parents, so, nothing was resolved.
