I didn't hate Rocky V. Tommy "The Machine" Gunn was a bad ass.

Of course I saw it in the theatre just like every Rocky since Rocky III. But it didn't have that Rocky feel. They strayed too far from the formula and having him fight yet another white guy? Ugh I mean I get that he's white and that's sadly why Rocky's probably so mainstream, but C'mon. At least we HAD to believe that the Soviet Union would produce an elite white athlete, but then we get a blonde guy with a mullet and zubas as an up and comer? That put a serious stink on the franchise until Balboa came out and gained some ground back.

I saw Creed II last weekend and my son and I were 2 of the 4 white guys in the theater of about 60 people.

If you tell me you live in Utah I'll be shocked. I think it's cool that the Rocky franchise has crossed over to a black star and made it something entirely bigger.

Honestly I don't remember. It was more of a drama piece I think, but then Stallone's writing is what separates Rocky from say a Van Damme movie.

I also recently saw Overloard and loved it. Horror is my favorite genre and this was engaging from the start. It's about soldiers who get deployed behind Nazi lines right before D-day and encounter some crazy shit. It was originally supposed to be part of the Cloverfield universe, but I'm glad it didn't happen.

I saw Overlord a couple weeks ago and I really enjoyed it. (Sidenote: is this film really classified as a horror movie? As someone who really enjoys horror movies, I don't think it fits the bill. But then, most of M. Night Shyamalan's dumpster of work gets thrown into the horror genre, and they don't really fit the bill either. This feels more Michael Crichtony, in that it starts out as a normal film and then takes a turn for the Sci-Fi about a third of the way in. I digress.) Solid script and well-acted. Instinctively I think I wanted a little more development on the background of the antagonists, but, I mean, Hitler, amirite? So I guess not much further development necessary. And the french chick is a freaking revelation; a more attractive Jenna Fischer, with a french accent. She kills her role (and some bad dudes along the way). Hoping we see more of her in future films.

The Green Book is one of the best movies of the year. It's based on the experience of a NYC bouncer at the Copacabana who spends two months driving a black concert pianist around the midwest and deep south in 1962. Mahershala Ali is, as always, very good and Viggo Mortensen is almost unrecognizable, in body and voice, as a Bronx goomba. There will be some Oscar nominations for this one. I'll say no more; just see it.

that's funny. my kids loved it. i slept through the entire thing. i think i fell asleep during the previews and my daughter had to wake me up to leave.

Really underwhelming. Why redo the Grinch, so soon after the last reboot, if you don't add anything original?

The Mule. Anyone see it? I was looking forward to this one, but RT 60% and IMDB 7.4 are not motivating me much.

Went and watched Peter Jackson's "They Shall Not Grow Old". Fantastic. Fascinating. Sobering.

I highly recommend that you google showing times around your area. Go and spend the 90 minutes. Then spend the 30 minutes after the movie to watch how they did it. Equally as fascinating.
