I would be interested in something like that.

I liked it. Through the first 10-15 minutes I was thinking, "What a dumb movie." Then suddenly, "Oh, this just got interesting."
      Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

      • The Midnight Meat Train - I had Kill Bill 2 on IFC in the background as I was doing some cleaning last night. This came on afterwards and I was like, why not? I needed something awful to over power the horrors I had witnessed out of RES earlier in the evening. It was truest awful. And ineffective.
I told him he was a goddamn Nazi Stormtrooper.

        • The Equalizer - Denzel Washington

I went in with low expectations, but the previews looked semi intriguing.

I really really liked the movie.

I usually go into a movie excited to see it, and come out disappointed. Not with this one.

I enjoy a movie that makes you think.

I had been wondering if Denzel Washington could elevate that script. Will a wife who doesn't appreciate kill the bad guys type movies enjoy this film? Is there enough Denzel for those that eschew violent vigilantism?

Plenty of Denzel. Plenty of Denzel destroying people.

              Fairly violent...really awesome.

              Lots of blood.

                  • They Came Together. As usual, David Wain directed/written movie is very funny. Certainly not his best effort, but still good nonetheless. Paul Rudd as usual was also funny, but he is always funnier playing an asshole than a nice guy.

Rumors of a Wet Hot America Summer prequel are still circulating and that it will be a 10 episode Netflix release. That needs to get done now. Wet Hot American Summer is one of the all time great comedies.

                    • You're Next-- pretty entertaining little slasher. Not over the top gory but somewhat suspenseful and just a dash of black comedy. Not like Martin- the other kind.

I've only married a year, so I still aim to please.

And then once the conflict arose, it didn't really feel like much of a conflict. The only thing more contrived than the conflict was the resolution.

                            Spoiler for Spoiler:
Really, this guy's pent-up artistic genius spills out via . . . a traditional cuban sandwich? Delicious, yes, but arguably the simplest food truck item out there. And the critic who tore into him for his boring country club menu is completely blown away by his traditional Cuban offerings? Ok.

Also, I have nothing against f-bombs and R-ratings, but when a f-bomb laced tirade is the only reason for the R-rating, that's just weak. I'm betting Favreau had some sweet sex scenes written into the script but once Favreau showed up back at his Rudy weight plus 20, neither ScarJo or Sophia Vergara was willing to go there.
                            I really enjoyed Chef.

To go artistic on you, th sandwich was a metaphor for his life, he needed to simplify go back to his roots and find his true home. Not the wine pairings, ScarJo, fancy restaurant.

                            Jk

I really enjoyed it though thought it was great.

                            • Okay, my attempt to use the spoiler thing failed. I thought that the silliest part of Chef, which I enjoyed, was the very end, which seemed tacked on for no particular reason.

                              • Saw Open Range the other day. Pretty good flick. It was a bit long, but it had beautiful scenery and the big shoot out was better done than most. I've always been a big fan of Robert Duvall and he was great in this, as always.
