I am not super familiar with Dick, but one night I read some of his bio and a collection of his writings called Exegesis. Dick had some form of psychotic episode/religious epiphany that left him writing volumes of bizarre meandering stuff for the rest of his life. I think I'd like to read the story on which the movie was based.
Better or worse than the Ahnold version? I'm going to say it skews worse since I wouldn't characterize the original as "lousy."

Is it going to be in the theaters or just go straight to Hulu?

can't say I remember the 1st very well. It was pretty lame. Turns out Dick also wrote Blade Runner and Minority Report.

          • last night watched a quirky artsy comedy called Moonrise ________ (can't recall the entire name).

Stars Bill Murray, Ed Norton Jr., Bruce Willis and the pregnant lady cop from Fargo. Set in the mid 60's on an island, two 12 years olds fall in love and is a great story about being 12 and scouts.

94% on Rotten Tomatoes, very entertaining.

            • Ai Wei Wei: Never Sorry

Fantastic documentary about Chinese artist/activist Ai Wei Wei. Very well done, engaging, and moving. Very inspiring and provocative to me as pertains to how not only I approach my own little art projects, but my career and life in general, and relationships with other people. As Ai Wei Wei himself says, life isn't interesting unless you're making an effort. Go see it- I think everybody would like it a lot.

              • "Never Let Me Go." Very interesting. I can see why it was not a commercial success (dystopian sci fi usually isn't, I guess) but I am glad I saw it.

                • We saw Hope Springs last night and we enjoyed it but didn't love it. No CGI, gunplay or action (other than a little bit in the sack); just talk between a couple (Tommy Lee Jones and Meryl Streep) married for 31 years (newlyweds), and with their therapist (Steve Carrell, who plays it absolutely straight). It's hard to imagine a couple going weeks, much less five years, without sex or any form of intimacy, but so it was with them.

The best part of the movie was watching two great actors doing their thing. The second best was walking out with the smug satisfaction that in 38 years we haven't had to deal with anything like they did.

We saw it Saturday night. Your review pretty much nails it. We felt the same way. One thing we noted was that there was an awful lot more wrong with that couple's marriage than just their issues with physical intimacy, which seemed symptomatic of the underlying issues. But it was a fun movie and those are two great actors.

We haven't seen an on-screen couple whose lives approximate ours since the cancellation of Hart to Hart.

                            • Went and saw Saint and Soldiers:The Airborne Creed

Not bad - Story is a little cliched, but it is beautifully shot and there are enough re-enactors around that they got the uniforms and equipment right

I may be small, but I'm slow.

A veteran - whether active duty, retired, or national guard or reserve is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to, "The United States of America ", for an amount of "up to and including my life - it's an honor."

                              • Searching for Sugar Man. A documentary about an American singer songwriter named Sixto Rodriguez who recorded two albums in the seventies that were total flops and failures in America. Unbeknownst to Rodriguez, a bootleg copy of one of his albums ended up in South Africa where he became a huge star. The film is about how he was tracked down decades later by some south African journalists and how his life turned out, how he was ripped off by the music industry and how he is still beloved in south Africa. It was a FANTASTIC film of a truly remarkable story about a remarkable man. I strongly recommend it. I note that it has a 95% positive review rate at Rotten Tomatoes. It is a well deserved rating. If you can you should check this out.
                                PLesa excuse the tpyos.
