I have a couple of books like that, one is from 1940 and outlines how Germany is Gog and Magog and the second coming would be 7 years after the death of Hitler.
Kind of. Except where you say "so holy" I would substitute "BYU religion professor."

I think there is a reason Granite published the book, not Deseret...the subject matter is too far fetched for the Church to touch with a ten foot pole.

Seriously, this book makes First Edition MoDoc seem fairly tame. As JeffLebowski says, it is a fun read, although some of it is so wild that it gets annoying.

There are parts of it that are not controversial, either, btw. But the entire premise is to explain the ongoing disconnect between science and religion. As you would likely agree, this is something that cannot be done, much less in as sloppy a fashion as the author undertakes in this book.

Please please please tell me he uses the classic example of the age of the earth = the age of dinner. On Thanksgiving Day when everything is placed on the table at 4:00 and Grandma calls out, "dinner is ready!", at 4:05 surely everything on the table is not five minutes old?

no, but I am laughing as I read this. I have never heard this example before.

He does recognize that elements that comprise the Earth *may* be older than the Earth itself, thus carbon dating results that show the Earth to be millions of years old are accurate, but so are the scriptures.

The odd thing is that he spends some moments discrediting carbon dating and other moments somewhat "supporting" carbon dating. He does the same thing with old B.H. Roberts quotes...in some chapters BH was a crazy coot....in other chapters BH was inspired.

My FIL offered to loan me his copy of "The Kolob Theorem." He suggested I read it.

Can anyone here offer me a brief review?

I found this review on Amazon:

God's Throne and the Celestial, Terrestrial and Telestial Kingdoms. The Kolob Theorem allows us to see more clearly the home we lived in before we were born and the home we will live in after we die. These places appear more real; they are made of matter, some of very fine and pure matter, and exist in time and space. It helps us anticipate the reality of the glories of our future home.

Lynn, as a man of faith, unites in a single theory, scientific evidence, together with LDS sources to account for the form and structure of all of God's worlds, planets and suns. Lynn advocates the theory that the great star Kolob(which is near unto God's throne) is located in the center of our Milky Way Galaxy. He examines several basic ideas which grow out of this hypothesis.

Here is an individual review on Amazon:

I found the thoery in this book interesting.I have a scientific background being a jet pilot and having studied astral navigation at aviation college. The theory in this book could actually be true, my question to the author would be does interplanetary travel happen and if so how? Would it be maybe through a worm hole on each planet like the Bermuda Triangle? How would this all interconnect with things like Enoch's City dissappearing from earth?

Above all this book gets you thinking and this makes you value life on earth even more.

Not gonna lie: that sounds kinda interesting. Not for the reasons intended by the author, i'm guessing, but interesting nonetheless.

There is a lot of good flood stuff in the book.

So I'm guessing this exchange is never going to happen? I still have the Southern Cal Media Guide, it isn't too late.
