I was surprised at how overwhelming the vote was in Denise's favor, I would've thought someone else would've picked up more votes.

Once again, no real good questions at the final tribal. I guess this is the only chance the jury gets to make this about them. I didn't like Penner outing Lisa as a child star and actually, I thought she nailed it on her response and sort of left him looking really stupid in the end.

I bet we see Malcom on fans vs. favorites...it seems like Jeff asking him if he'd play again was an awkward way of outing that.

All in all I enjoyed this season.
No one outed Penner as a writer, actor etc. who has appeared in all kinds of things including Seinfeld and Arrested Development; was nominated for an Oscar for a short film he co-wrote, directed and acted in. But I thought Lisa handled it well. This was always going to be Denise once they got to the final three though. Lisa actually came of remarkably likable through this and in the aftershow gave one of the nicest articulations of faith I have ever heard. Very sincere but also very self aware. I would not be surprised if this revives her career is some fashion. People really like her.

I agree. I could totally see her with her own show or as part of a "View" type group (if she's done acting).

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Yeah I was there thinking more along those lines, not so much acting.

She and Penner could do a sitcom on CBS!

            • Survivor is "date night" with my daughters. They come down to the den and we make a big deal out of it. After 25 iterations, we still find it enjoyable, and musing who's next to get the boot.

One of my favorites is coming back. John Cochran.

              • The show's producers screwed that one up. They should have never let that idiot back on the show.

He provided some head scratching entertainment his first go-round, but ultimately, you're right. He is so unstable they should have never let him back. Jeff Probst is one helluva crisis counselor, though.

I thought that was awesome - Probst calls him over to him, as Brandon escalates he asks "why do you think I called you over here". And then kind of rubs his shoulders - the entire time I'm sure he's thinking "I've got to keep my hands on this kid so that I can try to hold him back if he goes off."

While I agree that the producers messed up - they also got what they wanted. Drama. Enough that folks don't want to miss it - and will come back to see what happens next. And everyone is asking themselves if Brandon will be invited to the finale...and if he is, will he be escorted by large men or wearing a straight jacket?

Brandon isn't just unstable, he's an idiot. Apparently to him battling and fighting means running up to your enemy and then shooting yourself in the head to teach them a lesson. He says he didn't like watching himself get steamrolled last time he was on, I wonder what he thinks of watching himself go psycho...but at least he didn't cry.

I do find myself wondering if the producers are going to replace some of the lost rice and beans, or if the will just let things go.

Finally - I work with someone who knows Dawn and has spoken with her about this season. She was pretty excited to be going for a second time when she was invited - but this person commented to me that Dawn had said that this season was much more difficult emotionally than last time. They also said that they felt like it had kind of taken something out of her.

Dawn seems like a gentle soul. That's a tough game, even without batshit crazy Texas wannabe Cajuns pouring out rice and threatening tribemates.

                      • Sadly, there are millions of people in the same boat as Brandon. They have the same desires as evrybody else, they just don't have the mental or emotional tools for attainment. That aside, it was good TV, and Probst did a good job of handling the situation on the fly, all the while thinking... "I'm gonna win a f-ing Emmy, if I can milk this just a little more..."

                        • That was pure gold. Jeff is Da'Man for how well he handled that situation.. The massaging of Brandon's shoulder's did get a little awkward after a while. Watching Brandon move with the motion was a little troubling but hilarious all at the same time..

Dude is off his rocker. I can already see it, his Uncle has already booked his flight to the finale... Should be a good one as the "Hantz pack" gets together to go all crazy on Phillip who is a crazy idiot too..

                          • Funny episode. His camp tirade was kind of a joke, it didn't seem like anyone really was interested in stopping him from pouring out their only food. But then again, I wasn't there so I don't know how it really went down. It does take a lot for somebody to argue with Philip and end up with Philip looking like the sane one.

                            • It would be hilarious to see the psych screenings for their contestants. I'm almost willing to guarantee they are using that to make sure they get at least 25% of their contestants as borderline personalities.
