I'm glad I'm not alone on that opinion. He was pretty damned awful."Wuap's "problem" is that he is smart & principled & committed to a moral course of action. His actions are supposed to reflect his ethical code.

That is very close to spoiling the spoiler. For your sake I can only hope that Lebowski doesn't hold this in the same high esteem as he holds that dragon show.Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View PostHave you no faith in the power of resurrection? It wasn't an episode- it was book spoilers that I think would have ruined the season if I remember correctly. Since I don't keep track of the names that well it had zero affect on me, though.Originally posted by YOhio View Post

I feel like Gilligan was always being a bit facetious when he would act stumped when people would say they hated Skyler. Skyler was written to be hated. There were times when I was rooting for her, but most of the time she was as unlikeable as anyone on the show. Skyler is part of the reason Walt turned into the person he turned into. She doesn't justify Walt's actions, but she was a catalyst for them. I think Anna Gunn did a really great job at portraying her, particularly in the latter seasons.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostThere have been dissertations written on the Skyler character and how much of the hate was male driven. But she was very easy to hate, and it always puzzled me when Gilligan would say he couldn't figure out why fans hated her.Last edited by UVACoug; 09-30-2014, 06:43 PM.

Beat me to it. At first I thought it was mostly the cancer that drove Walt....but then I realized it was also the frustration from the people around him (mostly Skyler) that really drove him to break. He also obviously wanted from his college buddy the thing he never got until he broke (rich and famous).Originally posted by UVACoug View PostI feel like Gilligan was always being a bit facetious when he would act stumped when people would say they hated Skyler. I'm re-watching BB from the beginning. I'm realizing now that Walt is a serious prick from the very beginning. I always sort of thought that he just became a douche as he went on, but nope.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Meh. I'm rewatching it too, and I sort of agree but mostly disagree. You're now sympathetic to Jesse because you know his plight and because he ends up being the only really likeable character of the entire show. But back when you first watched it, Walt was the protagonist, so what then seemed like "tough love" now seems prickish. Let's face it, Jesse was a mess and needed Walt to be a prick at first.Originally posted by falafel View PostI'm re-watching BB from the beginning. As I've always said, Walt's true turning point was letting what's her face die to preserve his secret. Not coincidentally, that's right about the same time when Walt can't come to grips with letting "donors" and Flynn get credit for the money Walt earned. That's when it becomes incontrovertible that he's no longer doing it for his family, he's doing it for him.
Also, I forgot how lame it is that Skyler figures everything out because of what Walt says while he's under anesthesia. Pretty weak. I had not forgotten how lame it is that season 2 culminates in an orchestrated plane crash. Super lame.
After recently re-watching the Wire, it's pretty stark how much better that show holds up than Breaking Bad.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss
