That I never got to see Sinatra in live. I will settle for him on my iPod.

In HS we used to go to Clippers games at the old Sports Arena because you could get tickets for dirt cheap and then because nobody went to them you could sit anywhere you wanted.
One of my friends was a huge NC fan and he worshiped Stackhouse. So Philly was in town and they begged me to go along with them but I declined. They got to the game and bumped into this guy that gave an assembly on abstinence (we were all on student council and helped coordinate assemblies so this guy recognized my friends). Anyway, the guy asks them where they were sitting and says why don't you come sit with me I got seats on the floor. So they go down and sit on the floor. My buddy got a picture with Stackhouse. But better than that Notorious B.I.G. was sitting in the row behind them. Sitting next to them were Different World's Kadeem Hardison with UCLA's Chris Johnson (Son of Marques). They got pictures with Biggie Smalls. After the game he and his entourage left through the players tunnel. I guess he was chilling with Derrick Coleman.
I thought they were pulling my leg until the showed me the developed pictures. Biggie was shot and killed shortly thereafter."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

So was this about 1993 after they had already achieved mainstream success and were playing at some location in Ogden? Or was this before they became well-known and they only played 10 US dates in the next 3-4 years?Originally posted by TripletDaddy View Postconversely, when I was in undergrad, a friend of mine talked me into making the drive from Provo to see a band that was coming through, but playing at some bizarre location in Ogden or thereabouts. I wasn't planning on going because I didn't have a lot of extra cash, but since I liked the band, I decided to make the trek.
The band was Nirvana.
Nirvana wound up playing around 10 more US concert dates after that Utah date. Kurt took his life a few months later.Last edited by smokymountainrain; 09-05-2009, 09:58 AM.I'm like LeBron James.

According to DDD's description it would have been '93 when they were massive.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostSo was this about 1993 after they had already acheived mainstream success and were playing at some location in Ogden? Yeah, that's kind of what I thought. Bizarre that they would have been playing at some obscure Ogden location at that time. But, who knows, that's something they liked to do even after becoming huge.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostAccording to DDD's description it would have been '93 when they were massive.I'm like LeBron James.

Not going to the game today.Originally posted by RC Vikings View PostWhile going to school in Boise one of my friends tried to get me to see a band that was coming through town on their way to Portland. I guess the band had an extra day and they wanted to play somewhere so they decided to stop in Boise and play at a bar that held a couple of hundred people. I turned him down. The band was REM.

I regret calling Chris Croxton, "Crispy Croxton," once in seventh or eighth grade. His little brother burned him badly--scarring him all over his face; I tried to apologize after high school when I saw him one time. He told me to "<redacted> off." He had every right. This one still makes me sick to my stomach."Wuap's "problem" is that he is smart & principled & committed to a moral course of action. His actions are supposed to reflect his ethical code.

yes, it was in 93, post mission. In Utero tour. I was on my mission when they released nevermind. In fact, the entire grunge scene didn't exist when I left. So upon my return, one of my friends had to tell me about Nirvana. I wasn't around for any of the ground floor "Smells Like Teen Spirit" stuff.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostAccording to DDD's description it would have been '93 when they were massive.
I think the band only played about 10 more nights in the US after that Utah gig. They finished up the US tour a few weeks after the Ogden show. A few months later Kurt was dead.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.
