I applaud DH and his wife for carefully analyzing their budget and making strategic decisions to better manage their money. Wherever that leads.

Seriously, at this stage of most of our lives, does saving a few pennies really matter anymore?

Much as it's fun to bag on DH, I totally get what he's saying. My wife and I came to a similar conclusion re buying extra crap, although our solution was just to not buy extra crap, and that worked well. But we did consider canceling the membership.Originally posted by Donuthole View PostFTR, I don't feel picked on at all. I'm bagging on Costco in the Costco thread. I expected some push back. And if I'm wrong about milk, it's only by a few pennies. A gallon at Winco or Smith's is usually between $2.49 and $2.79. Last time I bought milk at Costco it was $5.35 for two gallons.Awesomeness now has a name. Let me introduce myself.

$4 for two gallons at the local Costco. A gallon at the local Smiths or Winco is also usually between $2.49 and $2.79. So around here, it's not close.I'm like LeBron James.

He can go to UTB5 if he wants. We took the cross town bus yesterday to the the East Harlem Costco excited to buy some patio furniture we had seen the day before only to discover Costco is closed on Memorial Day. Our balcony will have to remain barren for another week.

In a pinch last night, I had to run to Albertson's to grab a gallon of milk. Albertson's brand, 2%, $3.49. I don't remember off the top of my head what we pay at Costco for two gallons, but it's somewhere around the $5 range. What do you pay for milk?Originally posted by Donuthole View Post[color= or Winco. Winco's produce is definitely cheaper, and is comparable in quality here in LV.I told him he was a goddamn Nazi Stormtrooper.

As I said above, anywhere between $2.49 and $2.79 a gallon. Smith's and Winco almost always have one brand going in that range. I don't shop as much as Mrs. D, but I know she avoids Albertson's unless there is a specific sale she wants to hit.Originally posted by Dwight Schr-ute View PostIn a pinch last night, I had to run to Albertson's to grab a gallon of milk. And yes, Costco milk is usually between $5 and $5.50 here.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss
