  • The King Size Sealy is $160 off through 2/26, that brings the price down to $640.00. I needed a mattress set so I bought it.

As I mentioned either in this thread or in another thread relating to mattresses, I bought a Queen Sealy from Costco several years ago when I finished up with school and had to actually furnish a place for the first time. I loved the mattress, but moved up to a Cal King when I got married about a year and a half later. The Queen was moved to the guest bedroom which doubles as my 4 year old's bedroom. I slept on it whenever my wife and kids were out of town. The Cal King was some individually wrapped coil deluxe job with a eurotop. It was uncomfortable almost immediately. For the first time in my life, I started snoring when I got this mattress and it was because the damn thing was a hammock. The top of my back would sink in which caused my neck to be propped up at an angle which restricted my airway enough to cause the snoring.

The Queen and King at Costco are the same mattresses only different sizes, and as far as I can tell they've sold this same mattress for years because they've kept the same thickness and firmness level. I will never again buy a mattress with a pillowtop or eurotop. So far, my $640 mattress blows away my hammock which MSRP'd at around $3k (which I didn't pay, of course).
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

pillowtops are ripoffs. on the advice of Cuffers here in the mattress thread, I bought a pad for the top of our mattress. works like a charm.

        Huh...interesting.
I had the same experience, paying about 2K for a king size mattress that I absolutely hate, for the same reason. I also hate that you can't rotate and flip the mattress because of the stupid pillowtop. We have a guest room with a $400 queen that I honestly sleep much better on. I've been hesitant to get a new mattress because I didn't want to shell out another $2k. This would be worth the trip to St George.
I'm guessing the Costco guarantee is still good on these?
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

The guarantee is still good. I bought the thing in a driving rain and they told me if it got wet on the way home just bring it back.

The cheapest I could find the same mattress set online was from some discount online retailer and it was close to $1,200.00.

Sealy makes this particular mattress in a variety of firmness levels, but they only the midstream one at Costco. It's rated as "plush" but it's perfect for someone like me that has no back problems and prefers to sleep on his back. But it's not so firm that my pregnant wife can't sleep on her side.

For $640, it's a really good deal. But it's only going on until 2/26. And the last time I was at the San Jorge Costco (Monday) they only had a couple left but they get shipments in all the time because they're selling a bunch.

I've decided that getting a pillowtop/eurotop is almost as big of a ripoff as getting a built in navigation system for one's car.

Agreed. I bought a memory foam topper, and it's incredible.

Is is the one? Under details, it talks about a memory foam and a 'seelyfoam' layer--how is that different from a pillowtop? I'm concerned because some of the comments complain about body impressions left in the top layer, which is exactly my problem with the current mattress. I'm a side sleeper, so I like some softness, but not so much as a really soft mattress.

(By the way, the price is $100 more to account for home delivery.)

It's not even close to being as soft as a pillow top. But it's also not firm. On the Queen, I never really had a problem with body impressions, but I only slept on it for a year and a half. The memory foam isn't enough to worry about impressions. It's critical when buying a mattress to turn it frequently when its first purchased because that's when a considerable amount of compression occurs and its possible some of these people didn't do that.

Also, it seems some of these people expected a firm mattress and its not that.

                    • One of the best things at Costco: The large parking spaces with double lines painted between each space so some dope doesn't park to close to me and ding my door. I assume these are Costco standard-issue parking spaces, since the last three places I have lived near have had them.

                      • The frozen meatballs. I don't eat a lot of frozen food, but when I'm lazy and stuck for a dinner idea, I put a half dozen in the microwave and eat them with BBQ sauce.

Half dozen? What do you eat for dinner after that little snack?

I was at Costco yesterday when they were giving samples of these. I kid you not, one guy took 8 (!!) little cups at once. He then walked over to a stack of boxes about 30 feet away, set them all down, and proceeded to do meatball shots (for lack of a better way to describe it), devouring all eight half meatballs in about 5 seconds.

It's funny how some people get the words "sample" and "complete meal" confused.

It's amazing how little shame people feel in do things like this. I blame Obama. In a Mitt-led America, this type of thing will no longer happen.
