Currently we're with USAA and its great, just like others have mentioned. In Las Vegas, I haven't found anything lower.

When we leaved in Sandy, however, Allstate was even lower than USAA. Very surprising. When we moved to Vegas, Allstate's price went up about $1000. USAA went up too (stupid Vegas!) but it was still much lower than anyone else.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

After nearly 30 years with Allstate, we switched to Costco/Ameriprise. The rates were lower by quite a bit than everyone else we checked. Interestingly, the cost of insuring the wife, the Ute princess and me collectively is slightly less than the cost of insuring the 17 year old son.

And thanks, UD, for the tip on underinsured/uninsured coverage. I'll check on that.

But I realize this is only an option for those with military.

USAA for everything - can't beat the customer service or the rates.

I may be small, but I'm slow.

Same here. The rates have been great.

I disagree on Bear River, though I can't help but be amazed at the success of their reputation. Every time someone asks about insurance, there are several that say, hands down, Bear River will be the cheapest. At least in my case, that is not true, and they were significantly more expensive than a couple options I explored (yes, I live in Utah and am a non-smoker, non-drinker, with no past claims).

I ended up with AAA for both auto and home.

If you own a pit-variety dog, and want a multi-line discount, then the choices are slim -- Farmers or State Farm.

I've got State Farm and no complaints thus far -- but haven't really tested them either.

Why doesn't everyone post their insurance rates, level of coverage, insurance company, location, number of cars, age of drivers and recent accidents/tickets? Unless you have an exotic car, I don't think the type of car someone has really has much of an impact on the rates (or does it?)- but feel free to post that too if you feel it affects your rates.

Me: $750 a year, collision 100k/300k (I think), Bear River, Utah, 2 cars, ages: 32 and 28, no tickets or accidents.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Count me as one who has Bear River as well. Ridiculously cheap.

Yes, and when I priced the two, AAA was significantly cheaper, even when I added in the $79/yr membership fee.
